The US Constitution is based upon a defense against Protestantism instead of Catholicism. When you understand the fear of Calvinism and the "Popes of Boston" the other colonies had you will understand their demand for the Bill of Rights as a precondition to ratification of the Constitution. Start with the Federalist Paper #46 and work your way outward. Thank you, my friend. I had forgotten about the "Popes of Boston". I wonder if our learned friends have the ability to feel shame.
