You left out an important scripture:

Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

We are incapable of doing any good works or bring forth any fruit without our Lord. So that does raise the question how can WE do any good works?
