I think the reason it is so important for Mary to have remained a virgin, is because, according to mlizzy, on another thread, The Holy Spirit is her husband. Oh, mzlizzy, where are you that you can expound on this?
It's important when quoting (or interpreting) to do so accurately [you have misquoted me]. Joseph was Mary's husband on earth. The Holy Spirit is her spouse. Words mean something, smvoice. You were the one to expound on that just a day or so ago.

So sorry, mlizzy, the Holy Spirit IS HER SPOUSE.

Is that better? Does that change the meaning of this vile idea?

See post 2320 on this thread for more information on your Church's beliefs and teachings in regards to 'Mary's spouse IS the Holy Spirit'. It's not a new epiphany for Mark Mallett or you. It's been in the Catholic teachings for awhile.

mlizzy: “Joseph was Mary’s husband on earth. The Holy Spirit is her spouse. Words mean something, smvoice. “

Oh well, of course... Now I see it...

/slaps head....

There’s a HUGE difference between *spouse* (of a woman) and *husband*. How silly of me....

husband

1. : a male partner in a marriage

spouse

: married person : husband, wife
