Mary remained a virgin in order to provide an incontrovertible evidence of the miraculous nature of the birth of Christ, and, quite simply, because her intimacy with God made sex superfluous. How does one know this as well? Did she say that?
God created Adam and Eve with the capability of procreating. He obviously intended them to do so. They were sinless and walked with God in the cool of the day and yet there was obviously the plan that they would have sex and children.

God created Adam and Eve with the capability of procreating. He obviously intended them to do so He did -- so that we know God better by doing something similar to what He does: love and create. But Mary and Joseph knew God face to face, thety did not need training wheels.
God did not create Adam and Eve in order that they enjoy marital sex. He created them in order that they know and love Him, and gave them sex as one tool to that end.
