In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

Torturing and killing people, why? Because they dont *think like you do*. they dont *believe exactly like you do.*

The mind reels

"So according to Rome, heretics who were to be tortured and slaughtered included all those who "read the Bible in the common language and who read the Talmud." "

Pure unadulterated horse hockey gleaned from the musings of a fringe evangelical anti-catholic website. Again your objective standard of "it agrees with me so it must be true" has left your credibility sorely compromised.

You are entitled to believe whatever you want and your interpretation of Scripture is between you and God, but historical, verifiable facts are not subject to wishful distortion.

the Roman Catholic crazy train ran off the tracks a long time ago

And it was full, too.

Great song. Thanks for posting. (I may be out of place, because I seem to lack the vitriol of a proper Christian, based on this thread.)

God willing, as we are sanctified we learn to loath our sins and desire to obey God more every day. But as Paul reminds us, if we say we have no sin the truth is not in us.

How do you reconcile the idea that you are sanctified, and that you have sin, but you have no sin, being sanctified, but you have impulsion to sin, being saved, but you sin. Either you are are holy or you are not.

I’m not doing your work for you. You made the statements. The onus is on you to back them up. Kind of FRSOP.

Very good. Are you planning on reciprocating? After all, you have tacitly admitted to the education of the morons...

Oh sure. It's all Dr. E's fault. Not the fault of the person who isn't obedient and exercising the self-control they should.

Reminds me of my kids saying "No, he did it"..LOL

The two most common means are electro-shock therapy and taking a big hit on the Calvin bong.

The words, teachings, examples and life of Christ. Is any more required for Christians?

Jesus PREACHED the gospel in the books we call the NT gospels ... what did He preach? (remember the Gospel according the the writers were not yet written,)

Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

So what gospel did jesus preach Mark???

Virtually the same education that everyone got in those days.

Homeschooling wasn’t even dreamed of then.

Judging by the content here, I'd say that mainlining is the preferred method.

My Jesus and my Gospel are capitalized; but to answer your question, the life, teachings, and results of Jesus the Christ. If that is not enough for you, then feel free to wander along the byways of men, as the Reformation does.

It would appear that being post menopausal plays a major factor too.

Acts 2:23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye (the jews) have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

The cross was planned before the foundation of the world. The Jews, the Romans, were simply the instrument of God in accomplishing His plan.. it is not "anti Semitic" to speak the truth, name calling is only a way of avoiding the discussion

Act 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Torturing and killing people, why? Because they dont *think like you do*. they dont *believe exactly like you do.* The mind reels.

With an emphasis on the word "exactly". Imagine the Holy Inquisitor's salivating glee, at the opportunity to utilize modern interrogation techniques to commit unending authorized torture on anyone and everyone, to verify if they buy into Catholicism wholeheartedly. Break out the catechisms, the canons, the councils, the encyclicals, ad infinitum ad nauseum....

"....If a Catholic rejects even one tenet of Church teaching then they are as a result declaring that the Church is not a holy institution and more importantly the Church’s belief in truth is wrong....Catholicism has a monopoly on the truth, it is not good enough to only believe in some of the Church’s teachings, we have to and are logically required to believe in all of the Church’s teachings."
from the thread What Is The Catholic Truth?

(((chilling)))

And certainly not an impossibility since we have Roman Catholics on this forum literally cheering a return to the Inquisition.

"Virtually the same education that everyone got in those days."

Every education professional and study will tell you that there is a bell curve distribution in every population or classroom. Those on one end of the curve are incapable of being educated and those at the other are incredibly successful regardless of the teacher and material. It isn't difficult to see which end of the curve the chronically ignorant were on and a Catholic Education probably wouldn't have helped them. I mean it utterly failed to teach the Catechism to some, the 3Rs probably wouldn't have been received any differently.
