God's Word is the light

Yes. and I, being Catholic, is under an obligation to explain the Word of God to the Protestants who are ignorant of it (Matthew 5:15).

no authentic written record

There is a record, but not among the canonized books. So? We know most of the ancient history that way.

And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.

This excludes Mary Virgin Mother of God and clearly shows that Mary the mother of James, and Salome was not the same woman. Not every Mary is Mary Our Lady.

You have a problem with Scripture? What better would you like?

I have no problem with Scripture. I have a problem with people posting random verses and claiming that they prove whatever happens to be currently residing in their pointy little heads. If you wish to prove a point, then do so. Random Scripture unrelated to the claims that you make do not prove them.

Providing anything is better than most Catholics do because the most that the vast majority of Catholics provide is nothing but insults and diatribes.

The vast majority of antiCatholics believe whatever it is that they pull out from their navel or scrape out from under their toenails each day. Any claim to Scriptural proof is merely happenstance and random.

Rants and raves? People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

People who have no clue about Scripture shouldn't post as if they do.

James and Joses are identified as sons of Mary, the mother of Jesus. (Mark 6:3, Mark 15:40).

No they are not. They are sons of a different Mary. There isn't a verse where Jesus is listed together with James and Joses and their putatively common mother.

It is simply a fact, and truth matters.

It's not a fact because nobody can prove it. It's an opinion.

I have a historical religion that has to do with actual events that took place 2000 years ago and I would like the knowledge of these facts remain straight.

Well, that's nice, but *religion* isn't going to help anybody, it's Christ alone. Following a bunch of do's and don't's doesn't save anyone.

If you'd like to keep the facts straight, then Matthew 1:25 says.........but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

Until. And then the Gospel writers go on to name the siblings.

The proofs that Mary had other children and was not perpetually virgin are far stronger than those which claim she didn't. Besides, why is her lack of sex life so important to Catholics? Does it make her a better person? Does it give her more power than they already attribute to her? Does it play a role in Jesus' work of redemption on the cross?

I don't pick and choose what to believe and what to discard --

FOTFLOL!!!

We've been demolishing your so-called *proofs* about Mary's virginity the whole time. It seems that there's becoming more and more desperation on the part of the Catholics looking and scraping for sources to back it up as each previous one is dispatched.

Catholics have elevated Mary to far too important a position and role, even to the point of assigning her titles and abilities which belong to God alone.

They have made a goddess of her.

Are you saying Mary would not go to her own son's tomb?

Of course I say that, because that is what the scripture teaches. I don't believe what I want to believe but rather what the Chruch recorded as truth.

What kind of mother are you making her out to be

Again, sh is what she is. My opinions of her -- nor yours -- do not alter the facts. That she was not there is a fact. What kind of mother was she? The kind of mother who knew that the tomb would be empty.

I am grateful to all you who post to me. It shows interest in finding out about the Catholic beliefs and I am very happy that you ask.

Is the Perpetual Virginity of Mary important for your salvation?

Defending the truth is important for my salvation, yes. It was important to the Good Thief; it is important to me.

Can we apply the same standards to Matthew 1:24 & 25, and the other passages about Jesus' brothers and sisters?

Yes we can and I do. To describe a group of several differently related people -- cousins, step brothers, half brothers, adopted brothers, -- as "brothers" is literal, not idiomatic, usage of the language.

My opinions of her

God's Word doesn't ask for our opinion - IT teaches/instructs.

I am grateful to all you who post to me. It shows interest in finding out about the Catholic beliefs and I am very happy that you ask.

That shows lack of discernment since my intent is guide you away from deception and into The Truth of God's Word. I don't need to find out about Catholics beliefs - I lived them for too many years and now I'm blessed and on the side of TRUTH. It's amazing how one's eyes open when out of that darkness and bondage.

Christians shine the light of The Word and expose that darkness on this board to warn/teach others and that's a good thing. Some are earnestly searching for Truth and if The Word doesn't lead you to it, it will still lead others. So, I'm happy you asked, if not for your benefit, but others.

After all, who would want to be a part of tradition since it nullify God's Word. So exposing the tradition is paramount lest anyone else fall into deception. However, I do understand many are too indoctrinated to accept that.

"Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down.." Mark 7:13

You guys post that you declare yourselves the Judge of your salvation

No, the word of God declares whether or not men are saved. If a man has been given God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ, that man can be confident that God is faithful and He will lead, protect and save him through this life into the next.

The great deceit is that Rome does not teach such assurance to its members, but instead keeps them weary and fearful and uncertain.

Rome lies. Believe the word of God and be assured.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." -- Romans 10:9

"And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." -- John 6:40

"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep...

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep." -- John 10:11,14-15

Read the Bible, Mark. Christ already knows who His sheep are. He died for them and He will not leave them.

Learn the truth.

In the event that you depart from your swamp into places where they have book larnin’, you may discover that the Muslims claim that they follow the Abrahamic faith. They believe that Abraham is a great prophet of God; the Jews (and the Christians) follow Abraham through Isaac and Jacob, whereas the Muslims follow Abraham through Ismail. No spin; you simply must get out more.

Awe I guess I am suppose to be insulted by the swamp and lack of book larnin’ .

Here’s some book for you maybe you will get some larnin’

Gal 4:22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
Gal 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
Gal 4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
Gal 4:25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
Gal 4:26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
Gal 4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
Gal 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
Gal 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
Gal 4:30 Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
Gal 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

So they can claim what ever they want it doesn’t make it true. I lie is still a lie even if the Pope says it’s not a lie . If they were not still in bondage they wouldn’t still be trying to kill their own kin (light that red neck word kin? I picked it up in the swamp where I did my learnin’)

Now about that kin thing . Just because they their forefather was Abraham’s other son does not mean they worship they same God as Abraham did .
Their idol worship and hatred keeps them blinded from the truth and I am starting to see how it isn’t just them that are blinded from the truth for the same reason.
