In Christ Alone lyrics
Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save
?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ
Amen
Jesus preached the gospel and sent His men out to preach it..so the gospel existed long before the books we call the gospels were written
Can any Catholic tell us what the Good News that Jesus taught and that was taught by the apostles is?
Asked and not answered countless times.
What do they teach people in those RC churches if not the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
The gospel of Mary? The gospel of Saints? The gospel of works? The gospel of popes?
It was the beginning of the long slide into the dark abyss that we see in protestantism today.
After all, if Luther can claim that he need only follow his conscience, then Luther’s followers can do the same, and so naturally the non-stop “reformation” began, creating millions of popes - each man his own.
All reason that is founded on Scripture is true.
All reason founded on the doctrines of men is false.
The Reformation gave us rampant divorce, rampant homosexualism, and rampant promiscuity due to the reformed churches’ absolute acceptance and promotion of birth control.
Enjoy your party while you can.
1. But that is not what Luther said.
2. Your second line is not true; the bible does not address many things that we can easily know through reason alone, but this does not mean that such things are false. Perhaps you ought to say “All reason contradicting Scripture is false.”
You nailed it...also, Calvinism leads to atheism...see Holland, England...New England...they flop to Unitarianism, then chuck it all.
Ever see the “reformed” go at each other? It is something....watch a 4-pointer try to prove he’s really a Calvinist and not an Amyraldian or whatever....
They have “versions” of Calvinism based on supralapsarian, infralapsarian philosophy....the only model that is consistent is the supra-lapsarian one where God elects befor the Fall...creates evil, all of it...and presets outcomes...pleads with predestined damned souls to love him...it is ridiculous.
Most protestants are 3-4 points on the TULIP scale which is completely illogical...you are either 5 points or none. God electing after the Fall means God is finite and learning as he goes.
Protestantism is not another means by which it is possible to please God...note what I said...I did not say Protestants are going to Hell...I just say their self - styled methods, multiplying sects and approaches...are not pleasing to God
Blame Paul.
Luther presupposed that God renews the conscience of those who are His.
"I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost" -- Romans 9:1
Roman Catholics don't read the bible so it's understandable they would not know this fact.
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" -- Titus 3:5
Reason does not contradict Scripture.
All knowledge is not contained in the Bible, but all the knowledge God wants us to know regarding salvation and our position in His universe is contained in the Bible.
And even this Rome gets wrong.
lol. Rome has done more than its part to devalue human life. "Annulments" of marriages, even those marriages with children, are commonplace.
Rome is rife with homosexuality due to its "celibate" priestcraft.
And Roman Catholics practice the same birth control Protestants do. They just feel guilty for it.
Blame Paul for what? He is an Apostle....and Peter says we should listen to him....he also notes who will not enter the Kingdom of God in 1Cor 6....
Of course it isn't, but then again I haven't seen any evidence that you Pauliwogs have any interest in the entirety of the Revealed Word of God.
Christ Himself referenced "the Gospel" while He was still alive. Therefore, "the Gospel" cannot be a "record of the life and teachings of Jesus"...."
I am not surprised that your limited acceptance and bastardized interpretation of Scripture would leave your understanding of the Revealed Word deficient. Jesus didn't make up his life and teachings as he went along like Calvin or the other so-called reformers. He was the Incarnate Word that was present from the beginning of time. Every bit as much as He knew what fate awaited Him in Jerusalem and that He would rise again in three days He knew the entire Gospel from the beginning of time.
Give up the false messages of Calvinism and embrace an omnipotent, omniscient, timeless, infinitely perfect God.
I’m simply saying that, whether intended or not, he helped create a certain “sectiness” by planting so many churches that had the opportunity to grow independently after he left them and sometimes drift on certain specific issues. Yes, he frequently corrected them and admonished them from time to time - but it was always needing to be done. Even though things became more doctrinally centralized as the Church grew (and knit the geographical gaps together), I sometimes wonder if the pattern wasn’t set for later years.
That reminds me of what said God to Himself before He created Eve: rib it.
(I think I’m gonna croak.)
now that's a tad polemic
ROTFLOLOL!
NL: Of course it isn't
Then your earlier definition is incorrect since, according to you, it is insufficient.
So, what is the Gospel?
Happy reformation day to you as well. Always disappointed to see the religious bigotry and hatred from our friends here. On the other hand it confirms that the ignorance and corruption that Luther saw and acted on in his day has not gone away. Without the reformation I think some here would be warming up the old stake again.
Tell that to your Roman Catholic compatriots. They think otherwise, per here...
