In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

“Again, what does brother mean here?”

Brother means brother. Josephus wasn’t writing in Aramaic and it would be superflous for him to mention “cousin” or Jesus if the relationship was not significant to his history.

There’s a lot of graciousness and wisdom in your posts.

Nevertheless, Christ made HIS CREATOR GOD PRIORITIES

VERY CLEAR in a couple of places when HE TOOK PAINS TO NOTE

that those who did the will of His Father were his mother, brothers, sisters . . .

IN THAT CULTURE as it would have been in the Chinese culture—such an assertion in response to an appeal to attend to those relatives

was quite a stern rebuke to the whole elevating Mary idea.

U-2012>It was created out of whole cloth at Nicea by the Roman Pontiff Constantine.

Is this St,]. Groundhogs Day? This "crepe" was refuted multiple times before. I guess sooner or later some moron will forget and post it yet again. Constantine was never a Pontiff and he didn't incorporate the Church. He simply legalized and endorsed it.

There are some on this forum who demonstrate
such Vincible Ignorance so as to be astounding.

Constantine was a Roman Pontiff; See:
Pontifex Maximus

It was only relinquished by Gratian, possibly in 376 CE.

All Roman Emperors held the title from before 300 BCE

It originated in Pagan Babylon and was passed to Pergamon
with the Alter of Satan ( rev 2) then to the Roman Emperors.

A clear reading of history will show the pagan origin of the
term Pontiff and college of pontiffs.

May the scales fall off your eyes and behold the face of YHvH.

We can understand that . . .

the theme of a pagan Queen of Heaven is not a very modern idea.

Yes, of course. It’s pretty hard to read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and not get that; and Paul and Peter make it still more clear, don’t they?

And your point is? Sorry. Your POINT is?

The fact that the leave those homosexuals priest and bishops in their church and move them around to other churches to victimize others when they get caught tells me everything I need to know about the fruit your church bears.

I’ll leave you with some WORD. (BTW it is highlighted in red in the Bible just so you know who said it )

Mat 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Trying again....

To even imagine this is rediculous as it defies scriptures clarity that Jesus had brothers and a family. Yes, many do twist and or invision other than the clear writing to somehow justify their “belief”...but it is only that...a belief by some who without all the hoopla over Mary would have difficulty with their entire faith structure. Especially those who holed tightly to the adoration of Mary. If her image of what they perceive her as falls...then thne the rest of their faith is in jeapordy.

Jesus was born in September not December.

Many believe Yah'shua was conceived during
the Feast of Chanukah, when the light of
the world entered the temple.

Nine months later is the Feast of Tabernacles (Booths).

John tells us ( John 1:14) that Yah'shua tabernacled among us

Sorry, blue-duncan, your argument is with the great theologians of the Reformation. They weren’t convinced. And they were very careful men. I merely pointed out historical (history of theology, that is) fact.

I think that you can agree with me that Martin Luther was no friend either of the pope or the Roman magisterium. So, the question is, what possessed him, and virtually all of the reformers, to call this an adiaphoron (which is NOT agreement with Rome)? Do the research. Look into it. They were not stupid men, nor pro-Roman, nor ignorant, nor impious, nor unlearned.

So we agree he was teaching error ...how infallible!

Peter was taking meals erroneously but not teaching error. If he had been teaching the error, it would not have become magically infallible since it would have conflicted with the teaching about Christians not having to keep kosher.

Christ meant by the keys to the Kingdom.....Keys are only good for one thing..to open doors, once opened they have no more value ..

Christ's kingdom is likened to a city, the New Jerusalem. Cities at that time, including Jerusalem, had gates that were unlocked with keys. The king usually held the keys. In preparation for a journey, the the king would appoint a steward or vicar to hold the keys until his return. The key-keeper was in charge of defending the city and enforcing or clarifying the laws until the king returned. That is the role of Peter and his successors.

“”the theme of a pagan Queen of Heaven””

Perhaps you should read the following and think about it...

Queen of Heaven

http://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/mother.htm

Much is made of the title Queen of Heaven by those who attack Catholicism and Marian devotion. The allusion is always to the pagan pantheons and to the mother of the gods, often mother in a very carnal sense of other pagan deities. The Canaanite worship of the “Queen of Heaven” condemned by the prophets is mentioned, as is the worship of Diana of the Ephesians, devotion to whom was exceeding popular before the Gospel arrived among the pagans. It is said that Catholicism at the Council of Ephesus restored this pagan devotion under the cover of devotion to Mary. The history of that Council given above shows the absurdity, and the intellectual dishonesty, of that claim! One might as well claim with respect to Jesus that Christians worship a mere man, since to arrive at this conclusion the Church’s teaching must be ripped from its context and distorted to fit a preconceived judgement.

What then does it mean for Mary to be the Queen of Heaven? In the Old Testament monarchy the Queen of the Davidic Kingdom was the Queen Mother. The Kings, for reasons of state and human weakness, had many wives, none of whom fittingly could be called Queen. That honor was reserved for the mother of the King, whose authority far surpassed the many “queens” married to the king. We see this is the role Bathsheba played with respect to King Solomon and the occasions when the Queen Mother acted as regent on behalf of juvenile successors to the throne.

The role of the Queen Mother, therefore, is a prophetic type of the Kingdom role of Mary, just as the role of the Davidic King is a prophetic type of the Kingdom role of Jesus. Jesus inherited the Kingdom promised to David, who was told that one of his descendants would rule forever. The angel Gabriel revealed this fact to Mary at her Annunciation,

Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:31-33)

Aside from the prophetic types present in the Kingdom of Judah, there is also the text of Psalm 45, which when speaking of the Kingdom of God also speaks of its Queen.

[6] Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. [7] Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. [8] All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad. [9] Kings’ daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir. [10] Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house; [11] So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. (Psalm 45:6-11, KJV)

That Kingdom ruled by God is the same as the Kingdom ruled eternally by the Son of David. It is not an earthly kingdom, though it is present on earth in the Church, but a heavenly kingdom, the Kingdom of God. The Queen of that Kingdom is the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of the Lord God Jesus Christ.

Don’t expect me to go round and round in the cesspool thread.

I wish yo a peaceful evening!

We see where Spain has ended up under Catholicism.

Spain became the world dominating super power for centuries. Are you an American like me? Let's see how you judge Spain after 1000 years of American history.
