One of the Protestant work ethics is the churches take care of their own and then outside the church.

Our Protestant churches usually have deacon boards and deacon collections ...the men serve the members and help pay bills or do physical work on homes of the sick or elderly .Recently an elderly member got a check from the church for needed hearing aides , she refused the help, even though she needed them because she wanted the funds to help some of the families ..If someone is sick the women cook and bring meals .. We help and serve each other

We do not have huge social agencies that feed at the government trough ...

I think that is one reason catholics vote for democrats.. it is the government that meets needs not the church

Catholics comprise only 24% of the US population. Slightly more than half of them vote Democrat. The plain and simple math is that far more Protestants voted for a Protestant Obama than did Catholics.
