I don’t normally discuss religious matters in a public forum. So, I am probably going to regret doing this now. But, I have got to say this in defense of Glenn Beck.
I was deeply moved by the Honor Rally. It was probably one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a very long time. It gave me a great deal of hope and inspired me to think beyond the bitterness I feel about what has happened to this wonderful country.
It gave me courage and I don’t feel quite so alone in what I know we all are going to be facing in the future. This will be the times that will test our very souls.
The true patriots of this country will be called upon to save this nation. These people will come from all walks of life and religious persuasions. I stand with Beck on this. He has stood against great odds in his life and has succeeded in overcoming them. Now, he is here in this time and place to face the perils with us.
Like Samuel Adams, “I will pray with any man”. And, I will stand and fight with any Patriot.

I couldn't agree more! Thanks for your post. As someone that watches (DVR) and listens (radio in the shop/truck) to Beck quite regularly (i.e., it is a rare occasion if I miss more than 1 hour of his 20 hours of broadcast each week), I can't say that I've ever heard him pushing Mormonism ever. He is always very inclusive to name (in a broad brush manner) all of the various popular religions (in the US) when he speaks of these topics (e.g., "your Priest, Minister, Pastor, or Rabbi").
Personally I hope that he gets back to having his broadcasts being more focused on history and current political happenings/crimes. I understand that he developed this whole Restoring Honor - 8/28 program for quite a long time and I do believe that he is sincere in both the message he wishes to deliver and its importance for our Country. And hopefully he has awoken a lot of citizens out of a spiritual slumber that has fallen over our land in the past several decades. And he seems to have gathered a large number of religious leaders (Black Robe Regiment/Brigade) to carry this message forward via their own houses of worship and denominations; which I believe will result in very positive changes and continued awakenings throughout our Country.
But I don't want to spend that much time listening/watching each week to programming dedicated to these topics, I want to learn more about our history and benefit from his staff researchers (and citizen watchers) informing us about the details of what is happening on the current national scene. He also needs to stop trivializing the November elections (as I heard him do quite about over the past few weeks). His 8/28 message is a long-term solution to a long-term problem; as such it is an important message. However, we have short-term (November 2010) and intermediate-term (November 2012) issues that need to be dealt with properly; and are no less important.
I am very sensitive to proselytizing of any sort and if I sensed that he was doing this in any way I would be amongst the first out the door. His (8/28) message is important, followed through properly it will do nothing but benefit our Nation in the long run ("with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor."); I refuse to argue about its validity and utility based on the man's personal religious preference.
