On May 7 Pope John Paul II dedicated his general audience to “the Virgin Mary” and urged all Christians to accept Mary as their mother. He noted the words spoken by Jesus on the cross to Mary and to John— “Woman, behold thy son!” and “Behold thy mother!” (John 19:26,27), and he claimed that in this statement “IT IS POSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND THE AUTHENTIC MEANING OF MARIAN WORSHIP in the ecclesial community ... which furthermore is based on the will of Christ” (Vatican Information Service, May 7, 1997).
If even one of our FR experts had been available they might have influenced the unfortunate choice of the word “worship” with the appropriate English language word.
Unfortunately we are stuck with the Vatican amateurs.
INDEED . . .
Thankfully, most Proddys are aware that
veneration = worship = adoration before it meant
adoration = veneration = worship before it meant
worship = veneration = adoration before it meant

I wonder if John SKerry is a full professor in the
Vatican Alice in Wonderland School of Theology and Reality Mangling?
OR . . . .
Are we stuck with a set of trained RCC anti-defamation personnel . . . lawyers . . . ??? I really don't know, no I really am not certain that is the case . . .
But it seems that the fashion some of them use to distract us from the usage of certain words and phrases, and the way they re-fashion definitions, is the way lawyers do it in court when they are more interested in winning a case than upholding the truth.
