So...what do YOU say we do to be saved?

Calvinist say NOTHING. Either one is elect, and will be irresistibly saved, or not, in which case you will never repent.

“Unconditional Election
God’s choice of certain individuals unto salvation before the foundation of the world rested solely in His own sovereign will. His choice of particular sinners was not based on any foreseen response or obedience on their part, such as faith, repentance, etc. On the contrary, God gives faith and repentance to each individual whom He selected. These acts are the result, not the cause of God’s choice. Election therefore was not determined by or conditioned upon any virtuous quality or act foreseen in man. Those whom God sovereignly elected He brings through the power of the Spirit to a willing acceptance of Christ. Thus God’s choice of the sinner, not the sinner’s choice of Christ, is the ultimate cause of salvation.”

That paragraph can be summed up as “By Grace, Thru Election”. God chooses to save you, or not, and “His choice of particular sinners was not based on any foreseen response or obedience on their part, such as faith, repentance, etc.”

So...what do YOU say we do to be saved? Calvinist say NOTHING. Either one is elect, and will be irresistibly saved, or not, in which case you will never repent.

I'm happy to explain Calvinism to you in the hopes it will prevent you from making the inaccurate comment above again.

Christ says that in order to be saved a man must believe.

"Be not afraid; only believe." -- Mark 5:36

Unlike the Arminian, the Calvinist understands that the ability and desire to believe in Christ is a gift from God who freely gives new eyes to see and new ears to hear and a heart of flesh and a renewed mind, all in order to recognize, worship and be grateful for Jesus Christ as Lord, God and Savior.

Some would say this understanding isn't important. That it's enough to say "believe this and be saved." And certainly, that is true. Faith is the measure of our salvation. Period.

But apparently Paul, John, Peter and Jesus Christ believed that the Christian benefits by understanding why he has been saved. Along that line, Christ and the His apostles certainly wanted to reassure Christians that they weren't on their own in this life; that they were held securely in the hands of their Redeemer who would never let them go. Part of this reassurance is telling Christians that while it may feel like we're coming to faith on our own, it is actually the Holy Spirit moving us toward Christ because our individual and personal salvation is part of God's plan to adopt us as His children.

A plan that was put into place at the foundation of the world, as Paul in Ephesians 1 tells us. A plan to grab hold of the fallen sinner and bring him to his knees with the realization that God loves him and has always loved Him.

Most especially He has loved that sinner before that sinner loved Him. According to Jesus Christ.

Election is not a Calvinist term. It is a Scriptural term. Read your bible...

"For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth" -- Romans 9:11

(Waiting for you to tell me that line from Paul doesn't say what it says and how in the Greek it really means "the Acropolis has been tented for termites.")
