Thomas Castro, a young villager from Boca Chica, worked on a large ocean ship. When he was saved, Tomas felt the Lord wanted him to go to the other islands to spread the Good News. And he didnt want to just go sometime, he wanted to go now!
We encouraged him to wait until he had some training and we invited him to our home for Bible study and prayer. He drank in every word, and pressed to go with the Gospel. As we prayed, the Lord said, Turn him over to the Holy Spirit. So we did.
God began using Tomas to lead people to salvation. He prayed for the sick and they were healed. Many were baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Tomas led our first missionary team to the island of Isla Fuente. After a two-day trip, they arrived to find the people discouraged as it had not rained on their island and their crops were failing.
While he was preaching, Tomas said, Tonight it will rain; not too much or too little, but just enough to save your crops. One young girl on the team was upset. You are so crazy! You have just ruined our chances of ever coming back and planting a church here.
Go to bed and dont worry, Tomas said.
That night rain began to fall.
Today there is a strong flourishing church on Isla Fuente.
