The problem with “mentality”is that if the thing is not said then it's unclear whether it was really “heard” or somebody just drew an unwarranted inference. It could be the latter and then the accusation would be unjust. Your side is scoffing at my side for something you now say we might not even have said - and therefore might not even have thought. We end up with a guilty until proven innocent situation.
