It will take the author to clarify his meaning. Grammatically:
they will be extremely persuasive about “creating man,” bioengineering all the religious greats of history
can mean: they will be extremely persuasive.. and they will bioengineer. Either way I think it's picking a nit on a thousand pound gorilla.

Then why are the Catholics running with it claiming that the non-Catholics on this forum think that Jesus was bioengineered by space aliens?

It was Catholic posters who took it and misrepresented what Quix said without the courtesy of going back to him and asking for clarification.
