The nasty tone and vicious nature of FR's "religion" forum is shameful.
May God forgive me. I am ashamed.
I understand.
However, I am not ashamed to defend my saintly sister in Christ, Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Nor am I ashamed to say that I deplore her words, her writings and her “dark night” being twisted out of context and emptied of truth.
She took up her Cross and followed Him, the Cross designed for her by Him, the Cross of sharing His cry—which He gave for all who know the darkness of living without Him—”My God, my God, why have you abandoned me”. That cry, that “darkness of soul”, He brought to redemption on the Cross.
She learned from the Master to share that part of the Cross with Him. It was in this that she was able to “do all things in Him who strengthened her”.
In this life we can never fully plumb the depths of the mysteries of the Cross and of the Sacred Scriptures. We see only darkly through a mirror now, but the glory that awaits us will reveal all that is hidden, and we will walk out of darkness into his own marvelous light.
Yes, we can fall at times and become like that which we dislike. Nevertheless, we are called to defend what we know to be goodness, truth and beauty—however awkwardly we may do it.
