WTH is a catholic faith commuity? In my experience, they will have one or more of the following:
- A female pastoral associate
- liturgical dancers
- life-teen masses
- A priest who likes prancing around both the sanctuary and the nave while giving a "reflection" (not a homily...a reflection)
- A place where communion on the tongue is strictly forbidden
- Hand holding during the Our Father (if they are truly a "faith community," they will form one continuous chain)
- a rock band providing the "liturgical music"
- A statue of Marty Haugen on one side of the altar and David Haas on the other
- Hugs during the sign of peace...which totally obliterates the agnus dei (which isn't important, since they know God loves everybody and there is absolutely no reason to appeal to Her Mercy)
In other words, a place to run from...far from...and quickly.
Of course, your mileage may vary

A statue of Marty Haugen on one side of the altar and David Haas on the otherExcept for that, I think you're right.
By the way, as a born and brought up Protestant hymn singer, I can't believe how bad those two are.
I mean, I understand the "no hymns" or "only chant" POV. I don't agree with it, but I understand it.
But there is a 500-year long tradition of English-language hymnody to work with - congregational hymns have to start out singable, and go from there.
Where did they find those guys?
And Delores Dufner?
I mean, do it right or don't do it.

(If the answer is "Republican", it must be a stupid question.)

"catholic faith community"
....and they've been heard to sing the lyrics; "Give us the courage to join in the song" (what, exactly, does that song MEAN??!)
