I never heard of a pic line before. What’s that?

I hope it isn’t what my allergist was referring to the other day as a last resort kind of thing.

Is that intravenous nutrition?

Yes. Peripheral Inserted Central Catheter. She had a rough time, although the catheter itself was not too bad. It was the scariest part for her, but I think the worry over the line was the actually the worst part of having one. We have a finicky gut in my family, and that has been really the toughest part. She’s been in and out of hospitals over hers.

However, she is eating now, albeit carefully. Sometimes I know she worried if she would ever get better, this last time it went on for so long, but it did. I hope things work out for you. I have an unhappy gut also, and I know the frustration and worry that takes a toll on you. It’s really rough when something so basic to the way you live your life gives trouble.

I’ll keep praying, and ask a few friends to join in for you.

PIC= peripheral inserted central line. Parenteral or venous feedings with essential amino acids, sugars and lipids were what the poster was referring to!
