Having said that, your explanation indicates that there is a management crisis in the Catholic Church. There is a huge group of US citizens whose quality of life has been degraded by the illegals. We're fed up with it and there's going to be a reckoning.
It would seem that the smart play would be for senior management in your organization to direct middle management and front line workers to take NO position on the issue, or seek other employment.
Perhaps senior management needs to hear this from their consumers - you.
Please assist in prayer that it happens. :-) Also, do read FReeper markomalley’s excellent post #47.
Many of these “Princes” of the Church are so entrenched.
If bankrupting Archdioceses from lawsuits because of pedophilic and abusive priests wasn’t enough which happened under their watch. They are still here espousing more of their “social justice”, “liberation philosophy”.
They knew this *hit was going on.
They also have the “bully” pulpit from which to propagandize their flock. Hey if the Cardinal says it’s the Word of God or from the Bible, who am I to argue with him?
The fact is, it is not in the Bible. It’s either taken out of context or twisted to mean what they want it to mean.
When enough parishoners wake up and pass on the collection plate... then maybe!?

If you would look at some Catholic Caucus threads (remember, no posting) you would see that there is plenty of objection to the positions of the liberals within the Church. However the Church is not governed as an absolute monarchy, it is closer to the medieval system, with a hierarchy of higher and lower ranking clergy, who can only be removed in agreement with Canon law which is not fast acting. Even in replacing retiring bishops, the Pope must confer with lower clergymen. In the last couple of decades there has been a vast improvement in the quality of bishops, but the Church does not turn on a dime.
As far as the Immigration Laws of the United States is concerned there is no one responsible for promoting a Catholic position on them. It is up to American Catholics, particularly laymen, under the moral guidance of the clergy to participate in American politics to set the ‘Catholic position’.
