When Jesus was on the cross, he gave the care of his mother, Mary, over to John the Apostle. In the gospel of John, how many times does he mention Mary by name? Not once.

The gospels were written toward the latter part of the century, and most likely, Mary had already died. Not one gospel writer even hints at praying to the dearly departed. They DO record Jesus’ response when they asked him to teach them how to pray.....Our Father who art in heaven.....

Catholics always say they ask Mary to “pray” for them. Are people in heaven “praying”? Do they not see God face to face? Who does the Bible say is our ONLY mediator?

Please find a priest you can sit down with and talk and get your questions answered.

Why can't you answer them???

I agree. Over the line and uncalled for.

I don’t know what her questions might be. If they are about liturgical or marriage matters, I am not an expert in that.

I’m just sending her to an expert. I don’t claim to be one. Knowledgeable in some areas, yes, but not in all. I’m just a run of the mill REAL Catholic.

Couldn’t agree more about praying to the dead. It is opening yourself up to demonic activity when you attempt to contact the dead. This could explain the long history of pedophilia in the Catholic Church, and the cover-up of such a perverse sin.

After I answered your question, I figured out that it was a bait and trap question.

If Gibson was baptized, yes, he still is a Catholic, but he must repent and denounce the falsehoods that he has put upon people by building his own individual church.

I really don’t appreciate the bait and trap tactics that you used.

good post persevero.

I mean this with heartfelt sincerety: Catholics need to read the Bible. I mean, REALLY read it. Unfortunately, the Catholic Church does NOT promote reading and understanding scripture and the leaders of the church have it very wrong.

Blast away people, but I’m right and I only mean for you to find the truth.

So are you saying that the Bible is NOT about Christ?

Of course the Bible is about Christ. What made you ask that question?

This is NOT a caucus thread and, if I understand it correctly, it wasn’t even started by a Catholic.

Enjoy it! I know I am!

Hey buddy! That kind of language is inappropriate for this thread.

Fine other threads, not this one.

Why are you running, crying, to the Religion Moderator, over a thread that isn’t a private thread, anyway?

We give it to Mormons, too, and they don’t run crying like you, Salvation.

Why not have the Catholic list pinged, so you can have a little more help? It looks like you could use it.

Yeah, this nonsense is usually screen from the rest of us unclean ones with a caucus fence.

I mean no offense to Mary and say that she was truly blessed. But the qualities and powers attributed to her by these fringe Catholics - even SHE would be embarrassed.

Hey, Salvation, it looks like you might get banned from this thread!

From the Religion Moderator’s Info page:

“Open threads are a town square. Antagonism though not encouraged, should be expected

Posters may argue for or against beliefs of any kind. They may tear down other’s beliefs. They may ridicule.

On all threads, but particularly “open” threads, posters must never “make it personal.” Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of “making it personal.” Making a thread “about” another Freeper is “making it personal.”

When in doubt, review your use of the pronoun “you” before hitting “enter.”

Like the Smoky Backroom, the conversation may be offensive to some.

Thin-skinned posters will be booted from “open” threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters. “

Now, PLEASE BAN YOURSELF!

This is clearly unbiblical teaching. The Bible teaches grace comes through the Lord Jesus Christ. Mary is never mentioned in the Bible as bestowing grace. Grace can only come from God and His Son.

If you don’t believe me, read the whole New Testament for your self and then decide.

4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

1Co 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1Co 1:4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;

Now where in Scripture is that found?

In the same book of the Bible that said Peter was the first Pope.

You asked: “Ever hear of Catholic Teaching, Early Fathers of the Church, the Magisterium?”

Nope! Don’t abide much in mans opinion. I read the Bible myself. I found that too often the guy I was listening to was didling little boys, going to strip clubs, cheating with the church secretary, or some other activity. I have found the only thing I can trust is the Bible. Has never let me down yet.
