“But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is NOT AFTER MAN. For I neither RECEIVED IT OF MAN, neither was I TAUGHT IT , but by THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST.”

So what was the Gospel of Christ that Paul received by DIRECT REVELATION FROM THE RISEN CHRIST?”

That’s not in conflict that Paul recieved direct revelation. Of course it is. Galatians 1 is clear that he received it directly.

Catholics believe that only through the merits of Our Lord, Jesus Christ are we saved by Grace. WE MERIT NOTHING ON OUR OWN.

Secondly, Catholics prove Scripture BY Scripture.

In Galatians, if you READ THE ENTIRE BOOK, which is why we do not simply exerpt passages, Paul’s opponents in Galatia wanted to bring the Gentile Christians back into the Old Testament law. These are the works of the law that Paul is fighting against, and they have no place in our justification. Paul is saying in essence that Gentile Christians do not have to be circumcised and live like Jewish Christians in order to be saved.

But Paul speaks about Christians fulfilling the law by following the command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Gal. 5:14). He then explains that we must show the “fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:16–26) and bear one another’s burdens (Gal. 6:1ff) as a way of fulfilling the “law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2). All Paul’s teaching comes down to this: Our own works can never justify us, but works that grow out of faith in Christ are part of our justification. That’s why Paul says in Philippians 2:12 you must “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” And that squares with James’s teaching that works that grow from faith justify.

You forgot the second part of Ephesians:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should boast.

For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand, THAT WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM.”

I NEVER forget the second part of Eph. You have to be CREATED IN CHRIST in order to be unto good works. How are you Created in Christ?

And YES that is what the book of Galatians is about. Trying to be justified by the law. Or Christ and the law. Paul states that his gospel is not after man, he didn't learn it after man. Meaning that Peter or the 11 didn't give him this gospel. It's DIFFERENT. It's the Gospel of the Grace of God that saves in this present dispensation. You are following the Gospel of the Kingdom for your salvation. It's clear with your ten commandments and beatitudes.

You may know that you merit nothing on your own, but your not knowing if you're saved until the end of your life says something else entirely, And so does your teaching of purgatory. The FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST PLUS YOUR WORKS doesn't mean anything. Because if your works are in any way involved, then the work of Christ by necessity, isn't a FINISHED effort.
