Yes, perhaps He took a vow which though the church required it God did not for him.. it would appear God had His own plan for this man to fulfill, as well the natural need of a man and how God designed him to be.
I knew a man who married later in life who said..”She completes me”....sounds rather like Adams “bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh” in the Genesis account.

Yes- very sad- because as we all know- having a heterosexual relationship in the bonds of marriage with an adult could scandalize the priesthood.
