What?!?! Now Barna IS a reputable source for material on religious issues?
Which is it? Can they be trusted or not?
Or does it depend some on how the Catholic church is portrayed?
If you have credible statistics that challenge those posted in post # 875 and 877, please post them here.
"George Barna was born in Princeton, New Jersey as a Catholic, but later converted to evangelical Christianity. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Boston College and 2 Masters Degrees from Rutgers University. He has also completed a doctorate from Dallas Baptist University. The Barna Group founded by him is a market research firm."
He is obviously not carrying water for the Catholic Church. If anything, this would reinforce the validity of his statistics regarding Catholic vs non-Catholic divorce rates.
It's how they defend the faith, dontcha know?
"The General Social Survey (GSS) is one of NORCs flagship surveys and our longest running project. The GSS started in 1972 and completed its 27th round in 2008. For the last third of a century the GSS has been monitoring societal change and the growing complexity of American society. The GSS is the largest project funded by the Sociology Program of the National Science Foundation. Except for the U.S. Census, the GSS is the most frequently analyzed source of information in the social sciences."
If you don't believe Barna, a former Catholic turned evangelical protestant, could you at least address the statistics from the National Opinion Research Center?
