"Dr E. there is a danger in relying on the word of a loudmouthed amateur for truthful information."

Do you really believe that a few minutes poking around on the internet will give you sufficient information and understanding to engage in any serious discussion of Catholicism? Anathema has a long, and misunderstood history dating far before the birth of Christ. The 1917 Code of Canon Law, which abolished all ecclesiastical penalties not mentioned in the Code itself (canon 6), made "anathema" synonymous with "excommunication" (canon 2257). The ritual described in the Catholic Encyclopedia (which is NOT a publication of the Catholic Church) is not included in the post-Vatican II revision of the Pontifical.

(Do you realize you are beginning to look as thoroughly discredited as Dr. E.?)

THERE IS NO TEACHING OF THE RCC THAT IT CANNOT BE DENIED, MODIFIED, OR REINTERPRETED AS REQUIRED.

LOL.

To be "discredited" by fools is nothing to be ashamed of. It's to be expected. And in the long run, it means nothing.
