I have met and had discourse with some Calvinists whom I am convinced are Christians in intent. But you are correct in that some of the Calvin Youth aftereffects rejoice in others' misfortunes, since that indicates to them that God doesn't like those unfortunates, and by extension, God loves these voyeurs.1 Cor 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Congrats, it appears you have found supposedly professiong believers who are not perfect.
I have a profound problem with those who rejoice in others' misfortunes. Not perfect is one thing. Hoping for, and enjoying watching the trials and tribulations of other people is one of my hot buttons.

INDEED. And given that the Vatican seems to have made mirrors anathema . . . that could be VERY hazardous spiritually.
