Applying a label to a concept is not creating the concept.

The so called early church fathers didn’t pull it out of thin air. They had to get it from somewhere and they obviously got it from Scripture, the same Scripture that so many Catholics today fail to recognize as authoritative.

You couldn't be more correct in this assessment. The Catholic church has not created any concept or doctrine. It has been led by the Holy Spirit to define in explicit terms that which is already implicit in Scripture.

Councils were, and are, called because a heresy has gained traction that needed to be disputed in a way that leaves little doubt as to Truth.

There were many who disputed that Jesus is God, that He indeed died on the cross and that He did indeed rise, bodily and ascend into heaven.

The Church works to preserve the teachings handed down to it by the Apostles, to proclaim the Gospel and to define the faith.

the same Scripture that so many Catholics today fail to recognize as authoritative.

The Church does not make up anything out of thin air or whole cloth. Her doctrines and traditions are well within her understanding of OT and NT Scripture. The Church absolutely recognizes Scripture as authoritative as Tradition cannot contradict Scripture, just as when the canon of Scripture was defined, it could not contradict Tradition. Both along with the Magisterium are known as the three pillars of the Church's authority.

That you and others here disagree with Catholic doctrine and practices is a right you have under the free will God has given you. The outright hostility, ridicule and derogation that occurs her due to that disagreement is also your right. However, that does not make it right.
