Which is why Catholicism rejects sola scriptura.

PRECISELY WHY, INDEED.

must be nice to change it up any ol' way you wanna'...

Us poor ol' hillbilly trailerhouse folk... Us anti-Romanist bigots... We all just gotta make due with the unchanging, unmaleable, distinct and everlasting Word of the Living God.

It'll do. :D

***note to all (just in case): "change it up" is not porn lingo.

How very odd that someone would say such a thing as "The heresy of sola scriptura cannot be found in scripture.". Is it me, or does that sound like a contradiction right there? If it could be found in Scripture - which we believe it can easily be proven - it would not be acceptable since Scripture is not their sole measure of authority. Yet not a small number of the early church leaders very clearly stated that their teachings should always be verified by scripture. It WAS their authority and source for faith and doctrine.

It really makes me wonder why the concept is fought so viciously today. Why can't their doctrines rely on God's holy word for proof? What are they afraid of?
