The sacrifice of animals and such was not to be done by Christians, that is why no longer were the sacrifices of animals and their blood to be done....and “strangled animals” which is the reference to the not proper way Jewish”Kosher” killing of animals properly for food.

For the complete quotation of Mathew’s scripture:
Mathew 16:26...”while they were eating, Jesus took the bread, said the blessing and broke it and giving it to his disciples said,’Take and eat; this is my body. Then he took a cup, gave thanks andgave it to them, saying’ Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.”

and there you have it...What would be the point of the Last Supper and the Risen Christ who IS ALIVE AMONG US NOW if not for this message to us to celebrate his passion, death that unites us?

The Last supper sure was more than a ‘Bon Voyage “ party..and I do not see the significance of this event as much in other churches as in Catholic churches.

In the gospels, Jesus said He is the Bread of Life, the gate to the sheepfold, and the true vine.

Does that mean he is green and leafy? Or made of wood? Or soft and crusty and puffy?
