Some of the letters attributed to Ignatius are almost certainly not authenitic and have been disregarded by all scholars. Nobody has ever made a credible claim that the Epistle to the Smyrnæans is not authentic, in fact it was mentioned by Eusebius and Saint Jerome.Well it depends on who your religion calls credible...OF course any one outside your religion is not credible...
But I appreciate your honesty on the issue, as opposed to some others...

Well it depends on who your religion calls credible...OF course any one outside your religion is not credible... Check the links I posted in 1026, it's from a Calvinist website.

Well it depends on who your religion calls credible...OF course any one outside your religion is not credible... FWIW, part of the problem in studying anything from the pre nicene period is letters, books, records of those that weren't in favor either weren't copied and over time disintegrated, or for example in the case of Origen they were destroyed. Also, all kinds of forgeries were made for a variety of reasons.
All the more reason to trust Scripture Alone.
