You can't foist off your words onto someone else. You wrote:

"I don’t think Christ “relentlessly” went to scripture either. Just a few instances..."

And that statement reveals a lack of understanding/reading Scripture.

All I got out of that was more “profanity.”

I don't think anyone has said Jesus condemned ALL traditions.

Well, check out 610, and you'll find "anyone" did. Quote: "Every time..."

No, it doesn't.

This is the major reason that I don’t believe that Jesus meant that Peter was the rock that His church would be built on and that Peter was given power to retain or remit sins. Too much potential for corruption to enter and result in that kind of manipulation (misusing the power to eternally condemn someone).

Amen. And this accurate perception that all men are fallen sinners is what drove the early church to invest its loyalty into the Scriptures of the prophets and apostles, and not into a procession of fallible men.

From that we then developed this country's self-determining, republican form of government with its built-in system of checks and balances -- to keep them honest.

There's an inherent danger in every monarchy, albeit governmental or ecclesiastical.

No king but Christ.

Jesus meant we are to "eat" His actual body as much as He meant He was a "door" made of wood.

Scripture interprets Scripture, and thus we believe Christ when He tells us the Lord's Supper is a memorial and a time of shared fellowship between like-minded believers and the God of all creation.

50 percent of Protestants affirmed gambling was a sin, versus 15 percent of Catholics; that getting drunk was a sin: 63 percent of Protestants, 28 percent of Catholics; gossip: 70 percent to 45 percent: homosexual activity or sex: 72 percent to 42 percent. Ellison Research, March 11, 2008 http://ellisonresearch.com/releases/20080311.htm http://www.christianpost.com/article/20080312/study-behaviors-americans-consider-sinful.htm

39 percent of Roman Catholics and 79 percent of born-again, Evangelical or fundamentalist Americans affirm that homosexual behavior is sinful. LifeWay Research study, released Wednesday. 2008 LifeWay Research study. http://www.christianpost.com/article/20080606/survey-americans-divided-on-homosexuality-as-sin.htm

That is fascinating. And disturbing. And sadly consistent. No wonder 54% of U.S. Roman Catholics voted for Obama. They like him.

It appears yet again

that we have very different Bibles.

Mine seems to have very different content than yours does.

I'll continue to trust mine.

I haven't done a recheck and tally of every last case in the Gospels.

However, I'd trust you to be honest about it . . . Perhaps you'd be willing to document for us, those cases where Christ confronted such a mentality with something

OTHER THAN

IT IS WRITTEN

*AS A POINT OF AUTHORITY!* ???

He sent word to John the Baptist about His miracles. That was not a Pharisee He was responding to.

He pointed to His miracles another time or 3. I don't recall in response to whom. I think one of those times may have been the Pharisees. IIRC, He also mentioned in the same exchange IT IS WRITTEN or something similar.

Maybe

Uri’el-2012; &/or Alex Murphy;

can help us out on this.

REGARDLESS . . .

AS CREATOR GOD STANDING IN THEIR FACES

HE STILL REFERRED TO

IT IS WRITTEN

****AS THE POINT OF FINAL AUTHORITY!****

HIS DOING THAT *ONCE* WAS/IS SUFFICIENT

TO TRASH THE WHOLE VATICAN CONTENTION

ABOUT

!!!!TRADITION!!!!

BEING EQUAL TO

THE WORD OF GOD.

For any individual, group or organization to elevate their own notions of reality, their own constructions on reality--WHETHER BASED ON

their fantasies about !!!!TRADITION!!!! or star gazing or tea leaves or chicken entrals or liver quivers or

ANY

OTHER THING

Is STILL a horrendously blasphemous affront, insult, rebellion against the LIVING WORD--JESUS THE CHRIST--AS WELL AS AGAINST HIS WRITTEN WORD throughout the New Testament.

PAUL ALSO ENSCRIPTURATED CHRIST'S WORDS in his letters. Rebelling against that fact is rebelling against Christ AND HIS--IT IS WRITTEN.

REBELLION is NOT a FRUIT OF HOLY SPIRIT. And the harvest is different accordingly.

I don’t have time or energy to check to see whether

THAT PARTICULAR

every time

is 100% accurate, or not.

REGARDLESS

ONE TIME

IS SUFFICIENT to trash the Vatican’s

!!!!TRADITION!!!! = SCRIPTURE

in importance etc.

AND, THE NEW TESTAMENT IS FULL OF SUCH REFERENCES TO SCRIPTURE

AS THE POINT, SOURCE, VERIFICATION OF AUTHORITY.

NEVER TO

!!!!TRADITION!!!!

AS ANY HINT OF A POINT OF OR SOURCE OF AUTHORITY.

NOT ONCE. NOT A SINGLE TIME.

Y’all cannot deal with that without mangling reality, history and Scripture.

I think you are not recalling the Gospels accurately, JA.

Please show us a single time Jesus confronted the attitude of the Pharisees extolling, harrassing Him with their !!!!TRADITIONS!!!! where

Christ did NOT respond with

“it is written” or its equivalent.

I don’t think you can. I don’t think there IS a single time.

INDEED.

Of course, OThuga et al flatter the flesh.

That’s evidently a pretty easy slide for folks focused on, obsessed with pseudo-flesh as a religious ritual.
