"THE" source? I think you are just bloviating to make a point. There are many credible sources for numbers that approximate the 33,000 number that never mention any murders at all. I am accustomed to anti-Catholics, failed Catholics and kooks finding anything they want to on the internet. I'll bet you have a source for rhubarb pie recipes that also slanders the Church.

The main source that amateur RC apologist use is from the World Christian Encyclopedia: A comparative survey of churches and religions in the modern world Second Edition, David B. Barrett, George T. Kurian, Todd M. Johnson Oxford University Press

That laughable number includes Gnostics, Mormons, Jehovah's W's, etc.. Also many thousands of independent churches with identical doctrine are counted seperately.

The same source for this confusion also counts 242 Roman Catholic denominations, which is the number I will be using for future unity discussions.

I’m remotely in my right mind, I certainly won’t repeat such a charge.

When one believes in heresy and is FACED with TRUTH - changing the subject is a MUST. And you confirmed it.

Discredit? I think that the example is clear.

The less you say the more sense you make.

FYI the world's fastest growing Christian body's are Protestant Evangelical and Pentacostal.

Perhaps these differences will never be resolved...but they are far enough apart and away from the truth of God’s word that it is difficult to fellowship with those who pay homages to statues and have rituals which imo oppose the clear revealed word of God. There are just too many “other” requirements for catholics to fulfill in keeping with what Rome requires and or that their beliefs determine necessary. IMO Christ gets lost in all the ritual and worship and distractions from Him...and rather lift the church above Him directly and indirectly. He is not that complicated....nor that confusing as much of what catholics depict and claim He is...and too much importance is placed on all the “other” areas and things...thus and again Christ is lost in the shuffle. These threads themsleves attest to that as they are always the same issues...Mary Worship etc.

WELL PUT.

THX.

I don’t see why believing heresy is anything to brag about.

INDEED. Though the religious rulers 2000 years ago were given to doing so quite similarly . . . they were also quite friendly and close to their heretical hogwash.

More unsubstantiated rubbish.

REALLY, HOW SO? They don't even ABIDE by Scripture. For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through FAITH--and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God--NOT BY WORKS, so that no one can boast. And the RCC teaches - it IS BY WORKS.

Tell us - where is the "unsubstantiated rubbish"? Are you saved by your works, also, or not?

"The main source that amateur RC apologist use is from the World Christian Encyclopedia...

Obviously it is a source used by amateurish Protestant apologists too, but it isn't the source I used. Besides, even if the number were only 10,000, or 1,000 individual sects, schisms, denominations, or what have you, you have a situation in which the only thing that they can collectively agree on or have in common is that they are different from Catholicism. Otherwise the each have their own alter pontiffs or latter day Calvin's redefining, reinterpreting and misrepresenting Scripture, Tradition and their own worldly intentions.

He was excommunicated for his views, he was facing death at the hands of the Catholic hierarchy.

Facing death? What Inquisitional Tribunal did he face? What death did he face? Answer: none. He lived his life in wealth and privilege and died a natural death, untried and unmolested by the Church. The only death he faced was his natural one. Not affected by the Church whatsoever.

He turned out to be a pawn in the game of international politics, but a well paid one. Conservative? More like a man whose enterprise was bought out by bigger forces because they could use him and his enterprise to their better use.

I agree with you he wasn't facing death. That is, unless he believed in the promise of "safe conduct" by the Emporer.

He may well have considered the consequences of the "safe conduct" promised to Jan Hus.

That promise would have surely resulted in one big bonfire with Martin Luther as the meat to be barbecued.

"FYI the world's fastest growing Christian body's are Protestant Evangelical and Pentacostal."

More Pew nonesense. The statistics are misrepresented because a new schism or break away doesn't mean growth and percentage growth isn't accurate either because a store front church growing from 10 to 15 attendees doesn't really mean a 50% growth rate.

It can be taken wrongly. For 2000 years now, we have had an entire group of people, building an entire religious system on the Word of God and Tradition of men being equal. The very same problem Israel had. They were blinded and set aside by Acts 28, until the fulness of the Gentiles be brought in. God is not through with the nation Israel, obviously, but they have been temporarily blinded.

Paul talks about spiritual blindness, after he speaks to Israel's blindness in 2 Cor. 3:12-16. Paul speaks of the blindness by the god of this world, in those who do not believe the "glorious gospel of Christ." 2 Cor. 4: 3-6.

One is blindness by God to Israel. The other is blindness by Satan.

The former is because of Israel's rejection of Christ as Messiah. The latter is because of their minds being blinded by the truth of the gospel.

And what is the Gospel of Christ?

For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph. 2:8,9. Anyone who would reject this gift is blinded by the god of this world, and depends on WORKS to establish righteousness and salvation.

Same old Tradition, different face.
