Protestants believe that Heaven is actually located on a planet that orbits Rigel.

Is that down the street from the planet Kolob, where the LDS hang out?

14:26. But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you.

Teach you all things... Here the Holy Ghost is promised to the apostles and their successors, particularly, in order to teach them all truth, and to preserve them from error.

He was talking to the apostles and their successors.

Are you an apostle? Or within the apostolic succession?

I don’t think so.

The Catholic Church will not self destruct or be rendered destroyed by anything. Jesus’ promise to her is sacred.

And it certainly isn’t the Catholics here having fainting spells, palpitations and fits and flashbacks. Oh the colors, the colors!

Give me a minute to make up an answer.

It would be far more impressive if they went out into the streets and washed some dirty homeless feet and gave them new socks and shoes.

Have you ever done this?

In another farcical posting you are trying to disprove the Church's nihil obstat position on Mary using a dubious Seventh-Day Adventist website? This is just another idiotic attempt by anti-catholic Protestants to tell Catholics what we "really" believe because the truth doesn't fit the pamphlet handed out at the last revival meeting.

Just one more example of "getting personal". Oh well I am used to it especially from "fire from the hip" extremists.

You may have missed this from me ""Some interesting links within this article."

I have taken the liberty of following a couple of the links here:

ZENIT - Is the Time Ripe for a 5th Marian Dogma?

ZENIT - Cardinal Offers Update on Marian Petition

"...dubious Seventh-Day Adventist website", indeed! Those sneaky Seventh Day Adventists.

Why do you skip verses 3,4, and 7,8?

The entire text goes as:
1For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

2Surely you have heard about the administration of God's grace that was given to me for you,

3that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly.

4In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,

5which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets.

6This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

7I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power.

8Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

9and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

10His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,

11according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

12In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

13I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.

BKAYCEE: What Sola scriptura is not: First of all, it is not a claim that the Bible contains all knowledge. The Bible is not exhaustive in every detail. John 21:25 speaks to the fact that there are many things that Jesus said and did that are not recorded in John, or in fact in any book in the world because the whole books of the world could not contain it. But the Bible does not have to be exhaustive to function as the sole rule of faith for the Church.

CRONOS: Do the rest of the sola scriptura adherents agree to this? I’m sorry to put you on the spot, bkay, but I have never heard an SS persoan state this

METMOM: Works for me. God gave us enough in Scripture to lead us to faith. and live a life of faith.

Amen! Every word of God is pure and accomplishes all that God intends which is to bring His family out of the darkness of sin and estrangement and into the light of the righteousness and glory of Jesus Christ. The above understanding by bkaycee is part of the orthodox and historic DEFINITION of Sola Scriptura.

Cronos, your surprise at that fact simply shows that Roman Catholics do not understand what they criticize.

THE FIVE SOLAS OF THE REFORMATION

Sola Scriptura: The Scripture Alone is the Standard

The doctrine that the Bible alone is the ultimate authority was the "Formal Principle" of the Reformation. In 1521 at the historic interrogation of Luther at the Diet of Worms, he declared his conscience to be captive to the Word of God saying, "Unless I am overcome with testimonies from Scripture or with evident reasons -- for I believe neither the Pope nor the Councils, since they have often erred and contradicted one another -- I am overcome by the Scripture texts which I have adduced, and my conscience is bound by God's Word."

Similarly, the Belgic Confession stated, "We believe that [the] holy Scriptures fully contain the will of God, and that whatsoever man ought to believe unto salvation is sufficiently taught therein...Neither may we consider any writings of men, however holy these men may have been, of equal value with those divine Scriptures nor ought we to consider custom or the great multitude, or antiquity, or succession of times and persons, or councils, decrees or statutes, as of equal value with the truth of God... Therefore, we reject with all our hearts whatsoever does not agree with this infallible rule" (VII).

As the Scripture says,

Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Thy law....I will bow down toward Thy holy temple, And give thanks to Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth; For Thou hast magnified Thy word according to all Thy name....You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them; and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (Psalm 119:18; Psalm 138:2; II Tim. 3:14-17)...

The holy Scriptures do not teach the correct way to hook up a PlayStation 3 so you don't mess up your Netflix account, nor how to put on eyeliner so it's natural-looking because neither of those things is necessary for men to understand the Good News of their redemption by Christ's merciful work on the cross.

All that is necessary for that blessed assurance is found in the Bible, made knowable through the free gift of new eyes and new ears given by the Holy Spirit who "abides with them forever."

but don't you think it is just a little foolish to criticize anyone for seeking the input of some of the greatest minds in history when trying to understand the revealed Word of God?

HaHaHa...God doesn't reveal His truth to the greatest minds in history...God reveals His truth to the greatest HEARTS in history...

As for the 60AD date, tell that to Mark. 60AD According to MarkBsnr.

In fairness to Mark he might have meant Council of Jamnia took place 60 years after the death of Jesus.

Actually, what I said was that it occured 60 years after the death, Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus. The posting history does bear me out.

Iscool:"Can you imagine their pope washing someone's feet??? "

--> he's shown numerous pictures

Quix:"It would be far more impressive if they went out into the streets and washed some dirty homeless feet and gave them new socks and shoes."

Deo volente: "For several years, Pope John Paul washed the feet of elderly laymen, including a group of homeless men living at a shelter run by the Missionaries of Charity in 1980. " (with link in his post)

I wonder what new questions we will get asked about -- the questions aren't bad, what is silly is when people who don't know about the Church or anything related to it criticize it for something they THINK we do (which we don't)

I prefer to call it "isolating the pathogen".

Lovely.

That is exactly the method of the counter-Reformation and of godless socialists/democrats -- vilify the opposition not based on their beliefs, but instead dehumanize them which makes it easier to kill them.

ST. BARTHOLOMEW'S DAY MASSACRE

...When news of the Massacre reached the Vatican there was jubilation! Cannons roared — bells rung — and a special commemorative medal was struck — to honor the occasion! The Pope commissioned Italian artist Vasari to paint a mural of the Massacre — which still hangs in the Vatican!

Can you imagine their pope washing someone's feet.

Exactly! For appearance sake only - for photo op purposes - it's not from the heart when there is a mindset you must kiss my ring and genuflect when in the presence of the Pope and then off to the marble palace. And I will tell you what to believe, I will explain the decrees to you, my little subjects of my 'religious' empire.

Next Holy Thursday, find a Catholic Church, slip in the back and watch the pomp and the photo ops of the pastor or deacon. Judge the amount of pride for yourself. Judge the hubris and the self importance of the priest for yourself.

See if the participants emulate Jesus or Herod for youself. You may wind up eating those words.
