Prayer For My Lost Dog.
Me ^ | July 10, 2010 | Irisshlass

Posted on 07/10/2010 1:28:36 PM PDT by Irisshlass

My dog made a quick get out as I was closing the garage door...tried to run after him, but he is toooo fast. My husband and I looked for him for 3 hours last night. Put up signs and went to the shelter...no sight of him. If I could get some prayers for help in finding him, I would appreciate it. Thanks. God Bless.

Also, hang your signs at places like Kroger, where people take the time to actually read the boards.

Please keep up posted

Sometimes male dogs let the little head gain control for a few days and find a humpin’ heatie! Hopefully if he’s just bummin’ and slummin’ for a time and then back home he goes!

Proverbs 12:10 tells us that God Cares that we care about our animals!

You can bet I will pray for your lost dog, as you request.

Dear Father, Just as Our Lord Jesus cared enough about one lost sheep to leave the 99 others to go searching, and just as YOU care even for the wild sparrows and the grass of the field, we pray for this sister who has opened up her heart to FR and asked us to pray for the retrieval of her pet. Please bring her dog back safe and unharmed, and happy to be home in the arms of his loving master!

In Jesus Name.
Amen.

I’ve been there! Both my dogs were gone a full day and night but I put up signs everywhere and someone saw the signs and called me, then waited with my dogs until I got there. I’ll be praying that you’ll find your best friend!

I know how I’d feel if either of my elderly canines were to get loose, or my kitten. I hope to see an update from you soon about the dog’s return. Meanwhile, do you have any good recent color pictures to show to the shelter staff? To put on posters? I agree with the poster upthread who says grocery stores and places like wal mart often have bulletin boards for lost pets, and people shopping there are more likely to look at the posters.

I amp praying for you. An ad in the local paper is so helpful. I got a lost cat back that way. Also, when you are looking, be sure to check in *every* direction. When my little part Min Pin make his break for freedom, I made the erroneous assumption he wouldn’t cross a very busy street, and concentrated my efforts for a solid week on the east, south and west areas from my house.

Well it turns out that little monster had headed due north, and somehow by God’s grace made it across a very busy main street. I found him when I wasn’t even looking for him; I was riding my bike home via a route I never take [thank God I took it once!] and I couldn’t believe my eyes. He had two bite marks, and the vet treated him for infection. But he’s the picture of health today, and considerably less impetuous.

So don’t give up. Nobody I know thought I would find my little dog after a whole week. But I did, and he was so glad to see me, he spent the whole walk home bouncing up about three feet in the air beside my bike. ;)

I’m so sorry. This happened to me, too. Cried, prayed, called the shelters, etc. She came home at last—I think someone had her in their house for a few hours. I hope the same thing happens to your dog, and will send up a prayer that she comes home safe and sound.

Ohhhhhhhhh, so sad. Everyone has left good advice, so I won’t repeat it, but when our dog got out, we finally found him in lock-up at the pound, and he had a case of VD [dog version; he was busy] as well ... I’ll keep praying; I promise ...

You have my prays and best wishes.

Do you have a guess as to what your dogs motivation was... that could help.

Has he got priors... perhaps he’s going to the same place for the same reason.

Knowing where he/she might find food, water, things of interest and playmates in your area might be helpful. Stinky places like dumpsters and garbage can’s could attract him/her.

If it were me, I would begin a neighborhood canvas knocking on every door for about a mile out.

If you live in the sticks, some SAR organizations will help. Search and Rescue are not there to find dogs, but they may use this as an opportunity for training their volunteers and it’s always good PR. Also call your local radio, tv and newspapers.

In your canvas, pay particular attention to areas/homes with other pets, especially dogs, as well as kids. Be sure to check again where you have already checked... the little rascals hide or hangout near home, even under your own house.

If you live in the county, don’t just report this to Animal Control... report it to your local Sheriff’s Department.

If you have a church, folks from the church might help with the canvas.

While you are searching, keep somebody the dog knows at home. The dog could return, not find you and take off to find you. To me, this is critical, especially around his/her normal feeding and play times. Regardless, I would keep someone at his/her home.

I would be concerned, but real worry would hit me at about the 3rd or 4th day, depending on the age and breed of the dog.

Some may laugh at me for this, but if my boy was gone, I would contact a local breeder and offer to pay to have a bitch in heat brought to my house for a couple of hours... if my boy was within a few miles, he would be home right quick. ;>)

Good luck.....

Oh dear I have been where you are now, not fun. Keep looking, take a picture to all of the vet clinics in your area, go back to the pound and the shelters every couple of days, make sure your signs stay up and readable. Good luck!
