You are on to something...right before I left the LDS, I went to a Sci-fi convention in Denver...it was a ‘reality check’. No joke.

I do not note that the LDS have an appreciable sense of humour. I suppose that cosplay is proof of glass looking in some alternate universe.

Their sense of humor is very ‘inside’, culturally. The jokes are usually about Christians (God calls the pope from SLC), or about their own idiosyncrasies. Mormons who live outside ‘Zion’, are more likely, IMO, to have a broader sense of humor, but I also know several mormons who take life WAAAAAYYY to seriously.

One of their temple covenants, btw, is to refrain from ‘lightmindedness’. I know one active LDS man who will not tolerate laughter in his house, from either his wife or his 10 kids and would get angry when they were joking and laughing, so that may be a contributing factor.
