most of the Christians I know don’t even claim their tithes/offerings/alms on their income taxes (which is legal). Many pay cash, so there is not even a record.

Exactly. That is what I do. I only pay cash, and give anonymously, Mormonism cured me of the chance of anyone keeping a record.
And I give cheerfully, it is NEVER a ‘duty’, it is a joy.
However, one of the lies the LDS tell about Christians is that they don’t tithe. Well, our offerings don’t stop at 10%, and tithing is a OT requirement, but the LDS teach that Christians are in it for a ‘free lunch’ like one of them posted here the other day. And that is not true at all.
