lol. Your post shows no understanding of John Calvin.

By their fruits shall you know them. Calvin ruined Geneva, perhaps for all time. He sucked the life, the very heart of the lighthearted and happy burghers of Geneva. It took two centuries after his death to even birth a man who was not despondent.

"...God has enjoined upon us frugality and temperance, and has forbidden, that anyone should go to excess, taking advantage of his abundance. Let those, then, that have riches, whether they have been left by inheritance, or procured by industry and efforts, consider that their abundance was not intended to be laid out in intemperance or excess, but in relieving the necessities of the brethren. (297)...

Fantastic. Calvin was the first Communist. You hear that, everyone? By his own words, he stands convicted of being a Communist even before it was fashionable. You people, Dr. E. are absolutely amazing. You extol the United States as a stand alone nation, yet prostrate yourself to the Confession and the Bible translation of a foreign despot. You claim that Calvinism is the champion of freedom and capitalism, yet you boastingly post verses from Calvin showing himself to be the first Communist. How do you folks sleep at night?

No many of us take your arguments seriously, Mark, especially when you argue both sides, as you have just done.

Either Calvin was a miser or a spendthrift. lol.

Or maybe neither. Maybe he was as these other links describe him -- a thoroughly God-fearing, God-glorifying man who devoted his life to Jesus Christ and His sheep.

Read the "INSTITUTES OF THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION," Mark. Next to the Bible, it is the greatest book ever written.

Not very familiar with Scripture, are you?

Ever read Acts 2?

43And fear came on every soul, many wonders also and signs were being done through the apostles,

44and all those believing were at the same place, and had all things common,

45and the possessions and the goods they were selling, and were parting them to all, according as any one had need.

And you know this how?

Were you there?

Did you interview everyone personally who lived there at that time?

Are you a trained psychologist who is capable of evaluating the mental state of thousands of dead people?
