Priests are a gift from the Heart of Christ, Pope Benedict says

Vatican City, Jun 13, 2010 / 10:58 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Thousands of pilgrims and faithful gathered at noon Sunday in St. Peter’s Square to pray the Angelus with the Holy Father. Before the prayer, he said that the fruits of the recently ended Year for Priests could never be measured, but are already visible and will continue to be ever more so.

“The priest is a gift from the heart of Christ, a gift for the Church and for the world. From the heart of the Son of God, overflowing with love, all the goods of the Church spring forth,” proclaimed Pope Benedict XVI. “One of those goods is the vocations of those men who, conquered by the Lord Jesus, leave everything behind to dedicate themselves completely to the Christian community, following the example of the Good Shepherd.”

The Holy Father described the priest as having been formed by “the same charity of Christ, that love which compelled him to give his life for his friends and to forgive his enemies.”

“Therefore,” he continued, “priests are the primary builders of the civilization of love.”

Benedict XVI exhorted priests to always seek the intercession of St. John Marie Vianney, whose prayer, the “Act of Love,” was prayed frequently during the Year for Priests, and “continues to fuel our dialogue with God.”

The pontiff also spoke about the close of the Year for Priests, which took place this past week and culminated with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He emphasized “the unforgettable days in the presence of more than 15,000 priests from around the world.”

The feast of the Sacred Heart is traditionally a “day of priestly holiness,” but this time it was especially so, Benedict XVI remarked.

Pope Benedict concluded his comments by noting that, in contemplating history, “one observes so many pages of authentic social and spiritual renewal which have been written by the decisive contribution of Catholic priests.” These were inspired “only by their passion for the Gospel and for mankind, for his true civil and religious freedom.”

“So many initiatives that promote the entire human being have begun with the intuition of a priestly heart,” he exclaimed.

The Pope then prayed the Angelus, greeted those present in various languages, and imparted his apostolic blessing.

100% OF THE

“ENSCRIPTURATED”

I think it the technical word . . .

revealed word

IS CONTAINED IN THE BIBLE.

That’s what Proddy’s believe.

It could be argued that the GLORY OF THE HEAVENS is part of the ‘revealed living Word of God.’

Yet the Heavens are not, per se, ENSCRIPTURATED into The Bible, of course.

I learned from MarkBsnr that Scripture can be heretical.

Your stated learning is as heretical as the Reformation itself.

“The heresy of subordinationism can be proven from Scripture”.

If one relies only on Synoptic Gospels and Paul, that belief is inescapable. It is only with John that we have substantiantial Trinitarian evidence, and even then it is spotty.

On the other hand, wine into blood that retains all the physical characteristics of wine and yet is quite literally blood.....”mojo” indeed!

Since all the Apostles and the Church Fathers believed in that 'mojo' as given to them by Christ, I think I shall defer more to their wisdom than to yours.

That’s what Proddy’s believe.

Do tell. If Protestants believed the same thing, relatively speaking, why was the First Amendment enacted in the United States to keep Protestant sects from killing each other?

Does the Vatican rubber dictionary TEND to have the prissy definitions listed first or 2nd?

“Does Kay offer health benefits and a severance package?”

Kay’s health benefits are if I do what she says without toooo much complaining I can retain the level of health I am accustom to; if not, there is a severance package but the prosthesis will be combersome.

The word in Col. 2:10 is πεπληρωμενοι, "filled". The fullness in Christ is then referred to the baptism and forgiveness of sins, and then St. Paul ends with the exhortation to flee "from the elements of this world". Aparently, that fullness did not yet result in the salvation of his readers.

“Annalex was correct in post 329 when he said:” The Catholic Church never subscribed to the foolish idea that grace must or even can, be earned.”

Then you agree that God’s grace is unconditional.

I have no clue about “dispensations”, other than, of course, the Old Testament and the new. I am a simple man. The Bible says, “you are not saved by faith alone” and I read, and take it on faith. I don’t think St. James planned to mislead me, — or you.

If a person had to choose between believing the Bible is God-breathed and authoritative on everything it teaches and is sufficient to bring men to a saving faith in Jesus Christ OR believing a group of fallible men have some supernatural mojo to perform alchemy by turning matter into Jesus Christ whom we have been told is actually now in heaven sitting at the right hand of the Father, well, the choice is simple.
Pity so many choose poorly.

Of course it is. God's love is unconditional and applied to all. It's what we do with it that matters.

God is love (1 John 4). It is not complicated.

In whom, buried with him, risen with him, quickened together, having forgiven. It’s all past tense. IT’S ALREADY DONE> not WILL BE. HAS BEEN. You ARE COMPLETE. Not will be, hope to be. It’s DONE. Argue semantics all you want. It’s COMPLETE, annalex.

The redemption is past tense. The individual salvation depends on what the individual does with these things.

Read SALVATION PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE

I am off till tomorrow folks. Thank you for your company.
