Who gets to decide whose a Christian? The Jesus police!
Why do at least some of you posters seemingly discriminate against a certain type of Mormon? Perhaps I just missed all your protests on behalf of fundamentalist Mormons, but I need to ask you if you have similarly gone to bat for them?
The Lds "prophet," Gordon B. Hinckley was interviewed by Larry King on CNN on September 8, 1998:
KING: But when the word [polygamy] is mentioned, when you hear the word, you think Mormon, right?
HINCKLEY: You do it mistakenly. They have no connection to us whatsoever. They don't belong to the church. There are actually no Mormon fundamentalists.
So here the mainstream Mormons were defining fundamentalist Mormons out of existence, saying, "Only we get to define who is 'Mormon'."
So if you take umbrage here, what about those who claim they have a monopoly on the word "Mormon?" OK for Lds to draw boundaries, but nobody else? (Can you spell h-y-p-o-c-r-i-s-y?)
If there's no boundaries, why, let's all just join the new religion of Ecumenicalism. Here, I'm your new ecumenical guru. Copy down my "lecture" notes for you: A fundamentalist Mormon-is-a-Mormon-is-a-Christian-is-a-Jonestownite-is-a-Branch-Davidian-is-a-Heavens-Gate-ian-is-a-Urantia believer-is a Church Universal & Triumphant-is-a-Wicca-Witch-is-Voodoo practioner-is-a-New-Ager-is-a-whirling dervish-is-a-Hindu-is-a-Sikh-is-a-Muslim!) [And you may have thought religious pantheism was dead!)
