When I visited Auschwitz in 1995, I saw Kolbe’s cell. The tour guide told a little about him and there was a lit candle in the cell. There must still be somebody alive who knew this Saint personally. An almost contemporary link to heaven.

I found this photo online, and on the plaque, it says: "Cell in which in 1941 died prisoners sentenced to death by starvation as a result of collective responsibility for escapes. One of them was Father Maximilian Kolbe, the Polish priest who sacrificed his life to save another prisoner."

Here is our "link" to a Blessed in heaven ... saints in heaven, pray for US!
