Congratulations, you agree with the Catholic Church.
There are other interpretations of Matt 16:18 than the one the Catholic Church uses to justify the papacy.
Yes, we are well aware that the primary focus of modern-day Protestantism is to try to minimalize what our Lord said about His Church.
And whether or not individual believers choose to recognize that one can be saved and belong to a church besides the Catholic Church, is irrelevant. The Catholic church teaches that salvation is though it alone. All it did was make a few exceptions, the major one being for those who are what they call *invincibly ignorant*.
I would venture to say that the Church should probably clarify what they teach about this, it is obvious that modern Protestants have difficulties with comprehension.
For others, like myself, they consider that I am going to hell.
Actually, they don't.
the Bible teaches that salvation is through Christ alone
The Catholic Church has NEVER taught otherwise.
Then your popes aren’t because they specified the Roman Catholic church.

“A special case is the application of vincible and invincible ignorance to salvation. Failure to embrace the Christian faith (infidelity), total repudiation of the Christian faith (apostasy), and the post-baptismal obstinate denial or willful doubt of particular teachings of the Catholic faith (heresy) are objectively grave sins against the virtue of faith. Like any other grave sins, if they are committed with adequate knowledge and deliberate consent, they become mortal sins and will deprive one of salvation.”

Actually some of the posters you’ve pinged have told me no less.
