However, there is more than one interpretation of that verse.

Got it, ALL translations of Scripture have Jesus Christ giving Peter the keys to Heaven and, surprise, surprise, Protestants have figured out a way to say that this wasn't all that significant.

All of them. And all of them say that Jesus has the keys to hell. Our separated friends do not appear to appreciate what that means.

It's very significant...But it doesn't say nor mean what you claim it says...In order to understand the scriptures, you have to read the scripture and quit leaving parts of the verses out, or stop putting words into the verses...

You could even take it a little further and claim that Jesus gave Peter Heaven...Or maybe you want to go the other route and claim that Jesus gave Peter the keys to His Jaguar in Heaven...

But what the scripture ACTUALLY says that Jesus gave Peter the keys to the KINGDOM of Heaven...Now why is that significant??? Because the Kingdom of Heaven is NOT Heaven...Just as the Kingdom of God is NOT God...

Correction He was given the Keys to the KINGDOM not heaven

Christ gave the keys to PETER not to the RCC.. There is no scripture that implies that the keys are transferable ..

Keys are only good for one thing..to open something that has been locked.

The Keys were given to Peter after Peter had made a profession of faith ...That is what the keys opened .

Peter opened the profession of faith to the Jews on Pentecost and to the gentiles when he was sent to Cornelius . the Keys were no longer needed because Peter left the door wide open

Not being a member of any Protestant church, there is no way I think or agree that this not of significance. Peter used the keys and open the way to heaven on Pentecost in his sermon. So did all the other apostles in turn. To be a follower of the Apostles in this way one should do just as the Apostles did and proclaim the Good News! That's the sum of it, take it or leave it. It didn't make Peter a Pope or infallible, although what he proclaimed was infallible because it was the Holy Spirit moving him to speak the words of God to the people.
