GIVE IT ALL TO . . . ? . . . .

--A Research Thread--

. . .

.

7 “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! 9 Pray like this:

Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
10 May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today the food we need,[a]
12 and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,[b]
but rescue us from the evil one.[c]

--New Living Translation

7And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.]

8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

9Pray, therefore, like this:

Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name.
10Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven ([e]left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have [f]given up resentment against) our debtors.
13And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

14For if you forgive people their trespasses [their [g]reckless and willful sins, [h]leaving them, letting them go, and [i]giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their [j]reckless and willful sins, [k]leaving them, letting them go, and [l]giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses.

--Amplified

Pray with Simplicity

5"And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat?

6"Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.

7-13"The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don't fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:

Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what's best— as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You're in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You're ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

14-15"In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God's part.

16-18"When you practice some appetite-denying discipline to better concentrate on God, don't make a production out of it. It might turn you into a small-time celebrity but it won't make you a saint. If you 'go into training' inwardly, act normal outwardly. Shampoo and comb your hair, brush your teeth, wash your face. God doesn't require attention-getting devices. He won't overlook what you are doing; he'll reward you well.
--THE MESSAGE

Mark Kirby:

O Mother of Good Counsel,
Mother of Perpetual Help,
I turn with confidence to thy maternal Heart,
and I renew my total and irrevocable consecration to thee.

I am all thine, Most Holy Mary,
and all that I have is thine.
I give thee my past with its burdens.
I give thee this present moment with its anxieties and fears.
I give thee my future and all that it holds.

There is no part of my life that is not open to thee,
no place so secret, or so darkened by sin
that thy presence and thy influence
are not wholly and ardently desired there.

I want to be completely transparent with thee,
utterly simple, guileless, and childlike.
Thou knowest, O Mother,
all my preoccupations,
all my intentions,
and all those recommended to my prayer.
Take them, I beseech thee, to thy Immaculate Heart
and, as my Advocate, my all-powerful intercessor, and my Mediatrix,
present them to thy Son.
Seeing them presented by thee
and held in thy maternal Heart,
there is nothing that He will not do
to give to each intention the one response
worthy of the infinite mercy and love of His Sacred Heart.

Praying in this way, I can be at rest,
for thou art my Mother,
and all that I entrust to thee will be,
I am sure,
received, and considered, and cared for
with a Mother's love.
Amen.

Or, that The Father assigned her anything of the kind!

ABSOLUTELY.

Or . . . perhaps more accurately

satan and/or demonic forces have succeeded in seducing minds, hearts and spirits into such blasphemous heresies.

And the humans all gah gah with Mummy’s lap and nurturance fantasies—as firebrand said—many of whom lacked such . . . gleefully follow the Pied Piper down the yellow idolatry brick road.

IIRC, from my study hereon of the names of Roman Catholic et al churches in LA County . . .

Mary (and a smattering of other saints) took up 70% or so.

Even if one just looked at the number of lines devoted to Mary on FR, the percentage would likely be well above 50%.

Shocking.

More shocking that they DEFEND such outrageousness.

It’s nothing less than idolatry — giving the creature the glory that belongs to the Triune God alone.

= = =

Absolutely.

And the shocking thing is . . . here we are at . . . post #168

AND, unless I've missed it,

NOT A SINGLE Roman Catholic et al has stepped up to the plate and asserted that THEY CHOOSE TO GIVE THEIR ALL TO JESUS, FATHER, SPIRIT. NOT A ONE. 168 POSTS AND NOT A ONE.

Yet we are supposed to believe the obvious farcical absurdity that Mary is not subtracting "ANYTHING" from God.

Who do they think they're fooling?

They sho nuff ain't foolin' God Almighty! I tell ya that Fer Sure!

Speaking for myself, that thread was very “disturbing.”

God protects His children and keeps their feet from slipping. One gracious part of that protection is to make them sensitive to idolatry so that they are disturbed its display and thus they flee from it.

May God grant Roman Catholics that same discernment lest they become like the idols of silver and gold they bow down before and serve

This doesn’t make any sense. Why would a Christian not be against the idolatry and blasphemy in the Roman edifice?

BECAUSE . . .

Humans have an enormous capacity to compartmentalize, rationalize, shuck & jive; slip & slide; run & hide . . . for a time. They end up still reaping the horror shows they have sown . . . but the reaping has historically been sufficiently delayed that they delude themselves it will never come. Besides, they can handle anything in Mummy's lap nestled in her bosom. Surely Almighty God won't whack them THERE!

Or so the fantasy seems to go.

Telling people the truth about Scripture is not *bashing* anyone. If you feel bashed by the truth, perhaps you ought to take a harder look at what you believe.

Christianity is about Christ, not about Mary. Any thing which detracts from Christ in a church, needs to go.

ABSOLUTELY INDEED.

Virtue implies a personal love for God and an impersonal love for all mankind.

"At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet 'in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.'"

Hmmm, then the church fathers in theCouncil at Jerusalem in Acts 15 were wrong when they told believers to abstain from blood.

Now, some of the apostles who were at this meeting were listed by name and were, Paul, Barnabas, Peter, and James. The decision they reached about requiring the Gentile believers to follow the Law was this..... (James speaking, after Peter who was also there and didn't contest it) Acts 15: 19-20 "It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

Acts 15: 22-29 22Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, two men who were leaders among the brothers.

23With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings. 24We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

Now, how could they, being led by the Holy Spirit, tell people to abstain from blood if they thought that Jesus taught that the communion cup became the actual, literal blood of Christ?

That would be God contradicting His own commands.

Besides, has anybody ever PROVED that the wafer becomes the literal flesh of Christ?

And do Catholics even take communion like Christ commanded yet by taking the cup as well? For years the RCC only had its adherents take the wafer, not the cup so they weren't even observing communion Scripturally to begin with.

Excellent post! It is readily apparent that these prayers are TO Mary, and assign her real power. It is blasphemy, pure and simple.

Nonsense.

What a slippery pile of rationalized heresy.

Where’s this GREAT PURPORTED CHRIST EMPHASIS on HONORING MARY

WHEN

in a culture where and when HIS following response would have been interpreted as far more a slap in Mary’s face than it reads even in ours—when He evidently did not comply with his disciples’ encouragement to cut His teaching short and attend to His mother, blood siblings et al.

AND INSTEAD

VERY POINTEDLY SAID TO THE CONTRARY—THAT THOSE WHO

DID THE WILL OF THE FATHER

WERE HIS MOTHER, BROTHERS, SISTERS . . .

That does NOT fit your purported fantasy of building this huge sky scraper of a pseudo-Mary caricature goddess on top of the foundation of a toothpick splinter that is the noisy straw dog about Christ honoring his mother. Balderdash.

Sure He honored her in a fitting way. That’s a huge difference in your skyscraper of nonsense built on the splinter of a toothpick for a foundation.

Even at 12 He was no longer BUSY HONORING MARY—but WAS ABOUT HIS HEAVENLY FATHER’S BUSINESS—to her distress—which as God, He likely knew about, indeed, knew would happen.

There were some other Jews who were trying to fuss about the people praising Jesus.

Christ would have none of it. He said the rocks would cry out were they silent.

Another place speaks of God’s ability to raise children of Abraham up from rocks.

GOD ALMIGHTY could have certainly made a hundred varieties of a virgin maiden devoted to Him from any number of common Israeli rocks. She was NOT indispensably NEEDED.

God is NEVER put in a box NEEDing a person for any reason by any means.

He has an infinite variety of ways to achieve His goals.

God chose Mary. She did her task.

Task over. Fini.

Get over it.
