It is a vain belief of man who must needs worship a mother goddess.

It sure does make a church acceptable to a pagan Roman Empire with it's multiple gods and goddesses. Just as praying to saints who "can hear your prayers and help you" is really just a step below all the minor gods and goddesses that pagans worshiped. It's a clever adaptation to a sometimes very hostile environment, but it is wrong and really is the product of a lack of faith.

No, “Romeians “ did not say that.

Please do not create a false dilemma.

There was no “they”. Why are you framing this as a sweeping generalization?

Or should I perceive that you should have noted that your post was sarcasm?

Jesus never called on “tradition”, in fact, He spoke against it. Jesus appealed to the Torah and the Prophets when He said, “It is written”.

I think much of the discussion is missing the obvious question of whether being related to Jesus was of great importance to him.
How did Jesus react when Mary and his brothers were unable to get through the crowd to be near him?

Luke 8:19-21: “Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.

And it was told him by certain which said Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee.

And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.”

There is the relationship Jesus said was of importance to him.

Now what about ‘honor thy father and thy mother’? Don’t you think He kept that one too?

“”There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church, which is of course, quite a different thing” —Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.”

Since Mr. Sheen isn’t here, perhaps you can now tell us who here “hate”’s the organization he is referring to. If you cannot, then please explain how this quote is relevant here.

After that, please feel free to state where anyone here on this thread, that you disagree with, is actually wrong on any Biblical issue discussed here. If you can’t then please just admit to yourself and the thread this fact and move on.

Wow. Look how far down in that process one would have to go to get to Christ. It is even arguable if He is in that process at all.

Sounds like a lot of prideful raising up of sin-filled fallen people to me.

Also, please post the Bible verses that substantiate this statement: “the Most Holy Eucharist which IS Christ”

Jesus Himself invented sola scriptura when He proclaimed, “It is written”. It was His appeal to written scripture which flummoxed the authorities of the day, just as it does now.

Once Christ started His ministry, His mother had no influence on what He was doing. She no longer had a place of pre-eminence in His life, as rightly should be for a grown man.

An honest Biblical position can not be derived from what the Bible *doesn’t* say.

The Bible doesn’t say that Mary didn’t have three eyes, so is it a valid theory to assume she did have three eyes?

PhotobucketJesus Loves His mother, and has allowed her on many occasion to "visit." That some wish to ignore these facts ... well, should they stop calling themselves Christians, as Ignorant would suffice?

Our early Christian ancestors took this so seriously that forged books such as "the Protoevangelium of James" were quickly exposed as fakes. Christians did this even if what those Books had written in them was really popular at the time. The supremacy of Scripture was paramount.

What’s the difference you ignored the words on all the posts anyway. Now you question me? Look you want to believe what you believe thats okay but Catholics have a good argument for what they believe you may not agree thats your right.

Christ strongly condemned traditions of men which were elevated to the level of Scripture or beyond.

He was the one who set the example of going right back to Scripture.

Matthew 23 is a SCATHING indictment of the Pharisees, the religious leaders of the day.

Matthew 23

1Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2”The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.

5”Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them ‘Rabbi.’

8”But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one Teacher, the Christ. 11The greatest among you will be your servant. 12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

By pretending a link to Scripture they attempt to lend themselves credibility. Under this mantle they can then promote their idolatry and blasphemy.

That kind of setup has some pretty obvious fingerprints.
