I've had that thought as well. My best guess is that there will be some sort of "land-for-peace" deal.

Hypothetically, if the Ez 38 war occurs as some think, prior to the rapture and the earthly return of the Lord (and perhaps prior to the 7yr agreement) - then a considerable portion of islam will have been hammered hard - giving temporary breathing room for a temple to be constructed.
