I almost can't believe a Christian wrote that line. Astounding.
And I'm pinging MarySecretary one last time, for old times sake.
This last one, Mary, is a doozie.
But Calvin is no doubt honored to be referenced as a "protegee of Paul."
We should all be so blessed. Paul knew whom he believed.
So now Paul is “loony”. I suppose all who read Romans and converted on the spot are all loony as well.
This last one, Mary, is a doozie.
But, now, wait now, you've posted a bunch of times that Mary is dead. Who do you mean, here? Because the Blessed Mary Ever Virgin is NOT DEAD.
No doubt Paul's comments, based as they were upon being taught by Christ, do seem looney to those who put themselves up as a higher authority.
It's such a unique attitude in Christianity to see one group so convinced that defending their church is the same as defending their faith. Here is a great example of what happens when the hatred for all things not Roman Catholic clouds the mind, denigrate the Apostle sent by Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and his letters which were inspired by God.
2Peter 3:15-16 ...Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
Peter recognized the source and complexity of Paul's writings.
Dr. E.: I almost can't believe a Christian wrote that line. Astounding.
Considering the topic of the thread and its author, I would say doubly astounding. :) Since we have learned how wrong it is to pre-judge an accused priest before his trial, we must assume that Paul has already been tried in the official court of the Catholic Church and convicted of being "loony".
Presumably, at Paul's trial the defense brought into evidence that according to the Catholic Church's own teaching standard, the CCC, the words of the accused "have God as their author" (CCC 105). But apparently, that wasn't enough and the court of the Catholic Church found these words of God to be "loony" anyway. Again, that must have happened since the author of the essay argued so strongly how wrong it was to pre-judge a priest without due process. Surely if a priest is entitled to the presumption of innocence in the court of public opinion before trial then an Apostle would also be so entitled.
There really are only two types of people in this world: those who live by law and those who live by grace. For those Protestants that believe we share a battle with Romanists in some sort of social conservative movement may Judith's testimony convict them of which gospel they follow. Paul, of course, experienced these charges when he lived on earth and recognized the consequences of the gospel:
To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. Thanks again, Judith!
For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.
