Nifonging the Catholic Church
me ^ | April 18, 2010 | vanity

Posted on 04/18/2010 9:49:35 PM PDT by Judith Anne

I seriously wonder about some FReepers, sometimes. Any other person accused of a crime would be defended by every FReeper as being innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. I've seen whole threads written by men who have been accused of child abuse by ex-wives out to deny them their visitation rights or to wrest more money out of them. These men are rightly indignant, and furious about the unjust accusations that cannot be proven but are never withdrawn.

Yet where are those FReepers when a PRIEST is accused? Where is the presumption of innocence? Suddenly, every accusation becomes a verdict, and not only the accused but his entire organization and all its adherents are held responsible.

I can only wonder what some of these so-called conservatives (who so faithfully defend the Constitution) would do, if THEY were the ones accused! It is a nightmare for any man -- all of you know how even the accusation stains the man forever, even if it is proven false!

Not only that, many here assert that the problems of 30, 40 and even 50 years ago must be tried in the media TODAY!

Remember the Duke rape case? There are more similarities than differences here. The priests are accused, nifonged, and instead of being defended, they are vilified!

What other man of you could stand under the weight of such an accusation trumpeted by the press, and come out whole? None! And such accusations made, LONG after the statute of limitations has passed, sometimes even after the accused is dead and buried for YEARS -- are YOU one of those who automatically, reflexively, spitefully, and gleefully act as judge, jury, and executioner?

Women! What if it were YOUR HUSBAND, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR FATHER, YOUR UNCLE, YOUR SON who was accused? Wouldn't you want the best defense possible? Wouldn't YOU believe in their innocence? Wouldn't YOU help protect your loved ones as much as possible? And yet, YOU JUDGE THE CHURCH FOR DOING WHAT YOU WOULD DO?

Shame! Vast shame! On all who have sinned against the innocent!

"Free Republic participants are responsible for supplying their own skin."

Alex, If I had wanted or valued your opinion on this matter I would have asked you for it. If I acted on your opinion and assumed that even non and anti Catholics have an equally thick skin I would have more posts deleted.

I suppose to be fair . . .

Taipei is not the greatest place to get a suntan.

Thick, tough skin there could be in short supply.

Have you considered the possibility that these terms might have been used to convey deep respect and admiration?

Like when folks called me Noah saying, “ You’re just Noah Count!”.

It’s amazing how many Roman Catholics et al fail to realize that some of us Prottys haul out annoying terms primarily or only when the Papists get particularly obnoxious, prissy and assaultive.

I believe that we realize the words of Yah'shua:
Mat 5:11 "Blessed are you when people insult you
and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds
of evil against you because of Me.
There is wheat and there is chaff.

FYI - I am not in Taiwan, I was in Taiwan. I was in China, I was in Israel, I was in Germany, I was in Ireland, I was in Scotland, I was in France, I was in Malaysia, I was in Japan, I was in Korea, I was in England, I was in Italy.....all on business. I am a natural born citizen of the US. I will be many more places this year.

The moral of the story is don't take a single bit of information out of context, as you have with the Scripture and the Catholic Church and weave an entire alternate reality around it.

WOW.

HOW INCREDIBLE.

HOW AWESOME!

SUCH !!POOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWER!!

Oh, right, kowtow1, kowtow2, kowtow3 . . . [banging head on ground at the feet of the GREAT AND POWERFUL]

bowing, scraping, groveling to the max . . .

Benduflecting [bowing in the shape of a cross] 7 times.

[backing out of the AUGUST PRESENCE slowly . . . bowing and groveling continuously]

What an honor to bow and scrape in the presence of such a SAINTED PERSONAGE! I should avoid washing for a month to just feast on the lingering aroma of PONTIFICAL THEOLOGICAL MAJESTY!

Maybe not. I haven't had my Cheerios, yet.

“..us Prottys haul out annoying terms primarily or only when the Papists get particularly obnoxious, prissy and assaultive.””stimulus followed by response.”

OK

I’m interested in the term “us Prottys”. Does this mean that you speak for all “Prottys”, some who are “us” or does “us Prottys” refer particularly to yourself -—and the ones on your ping list?

“..haul out annoying terms”—
Would you agree then that some terms used, such as “Papists”, can be annoying?

“...primarily or only when the Papists get particularly obnoxious, prissy and assaultive.” Which is it?—primarily or only?

If “Papists get particularly obnoxious,(very unpleasant), prissy (fussy) and assaultive” (violent attack either physical or verbal), does this apply to all, to some, to few? Are these traits absent from “Protty” posts?

“Stimulus followed by response.”

How true. And it works both ways.

Naw.

I do good trying to keep up with speaking for myself alone! LOL.

I may have presumptions and presentments ostensibly supported by a cast of thousands . . . but mostly, my assumption when I refer to ‘us Prottys’ is that at least one or 3 or so others agree with most of what I’ve said in that post.

In terms of stimulus/response . . . I really do believe . . . from watching this for more than 10 years hereon . . .

Prottys tend to be pretty mild mannered ON AVERAGE.

UNTIL some Roman Catholic et al posts some outrageously baiting, outrageously idolatrous, outrageously blasphemous, outrageously tweaky, outrageously assaultive post.

THEN the match is on.

We may not have masses of bureaucratic political power mongering magicstericals behind us but we’ll still rise to the occasion to some degree.

We may not have rosaries with marbles for beads and crucifixes the size of canes to swing and maim with but we’ll still stand up somewhat tall for what we believe to be good and righteous and Biblical.

It appears that a good lot of Roman Catholics et al hereon

REALLY DO !!!NOT!!!! GET IT

about

THE INSTITUTUION
THE DOGMA
THE PERSONAGES OUT THERE OR OUT WHEREVER

ARE

NOT

INDIVIDUAL FREEPERS.

And, MOST Prottys can fiercely loathe this or that idolatrous dogma or practice while still loving the individuals involved.

We realize that’s not a grace nor a skill that many Roman Catholics et al seem to have acquired or even be interested in acquiring.

I realize some RCs believe Mary to be the equal if not the superior of Christ, since they give to her the titles and office which belong to Christ alone, and it’s always helpful to get evidence of that fact.

On these threads, I think my definition of

prissy = haughtily, self-righteously, puffed up and snidely ostentacious.

And the reverse is just as true. The gospel accounts were part of scripture and so were Paul's letters but all had one ultimate author.
In Acts 13:26-40 Paul preached the gospels and as Acts 9:19-22 he proved to Jews that “logically, this was the Christ”.

Whether by recounting Jesus’ life or application of the prophetic scriptures, it was the unfolding of what the good news was that Peter said even the angels were desirous of peering into. (1 Peter 1:10-12)

Not Luke's good news or Paul's, etc., but one gospel.
