Nifonging the Catholic Church
me ^ | April 18, 2010 | vanity

Posted on 04/18/2010 9:49:35 PM PDT by Judith Anne

I seriously wonder about some FReepers, sometimes. Any other person accused of a crime would be defended by every FReeper as being innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. I've seen whole threads written by men who have been accused of child abuse by ex-wives out to deny them their visitation rights or to wrest more money out of them. These men are rightly indignant, and furious about the unjust accusations that cannot be proven but are never withdrawn.

Yet where are those FReepers when a PRIEST is accused? Where is the presumption of innocence? Suddenly, every accusation becomes a verdict, and not only the accused but his entire organization and all its adherents are held responsible.

I can only wonder what some of these so-called conservatives (who so faithfully defend the Constitution) would do, if THEY were the ones accused! It is a nightmare for any man -- all of you know how even the accusation stains the man forever, even if it is proven false!

Not only that, many here assert that the problems of 30, 40 and even 50 years ago must be tried in the media TODAY!

Remember the Duke rape case? There are more similarities than differences here. The priests are accused, nifonged, and instead of being defended, they are vilified!

What other man of you could stand under the weight of such an accusation trumpeted by the press, and come out whole? None! And such accusations made, LONG after the statute of limitations has passed, sometimes even after the accused is dead and buried for YEARS -- are YOU one of those who automatically, reflexively, spitefully, and gleefully act as judge, jury, and executioner?

Women! What if it were YOUR HUSBAND, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR FATHER, YOUR UNCLE, YOUR SON who was accused? Wouldn't you want the best defense possible? Wouldn't YOU believe in their innocence? Wouldn't YOU help protect your loved ones as much as possible? And yet, YOU JUDGE THE CHURCH FOR DOING WHAT YOU WOULD DO?

Shame! Vast shame! On all who have sinned against the innocent!

“splitters and quitters” — Outstanding!

Highly accurate, very descriptive, and not original with me. But feel free to use it and to spread its use. It is a good portrayer of the rubble of the Reformation and the ruin of the Restoration period. The aftermath of them is pitiful. I can only pray that the Lord God Almighty have mercy upon their souls - those who follow the usurpers and the churches of men.

I didn't say that I didn't think that believers who have died are not alive in heaven. But when they died here on earth, they are dead to us.

We are prohibited from contacting the dead.

Deuteronomy 18:9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the LORD your God.

You have the Scriptures on your side in this discussion, A-G. Your Godly attitude is what we all should aspire to.

Only Enoch and Elijah have not died. Everyone else has.

They are dead to us and we are prohibited from trying to contact the dead.

That is spiritism.

I believe I understand clearly the meaning of Albion Girl’s post.

Do you mean Alamo-girl? I haven't seen Albiongirl's posts in awhile. Or have I missed some of her posts? Hope she's well.

just another misguided chinless wonder who thinks that she can be her own Pope.

You ought to find some better friends.

As the Catholic Church teaches it, yes.

All believers are part of the true church, which is the body of Christ. But nowhere in Scripture are we commanded to ask those who have died to us to pray for us.

Paul’s instructions to pray for each other were written to believers who were alive on this earth.

Forgiving someone is the quickest way to cause them to stop controlling your life any more.

Great, awesome and wise advice! Thank you.

“As the Catholic Church teaches it, yes.”

Well the Church has ALWAYS taught that those who are ALIVE in Heaven are part of that Communion of Saints. Your misreading of Scripture notwithstanding, Mary is ALIVE and is fully as capable as you of saying a prayer.

It’s generally considered good FR form that the person making the contention provide the backing for his statements.

BTW, does the Catholic church count in its numbers all who have been baptized as Catholics whether they attend church or not?

That would give an artificially high number of Catholics worldwide.

Oh noes. You invoked the CIA Factbook. Now all true Bible Believers (tm) must don their traditional gear:

“t’s generally considered good FR form that the person making the contention provide the backing for his statements.”

ROTFLMAO!

So back up your very odd claims, link to authoritative teachings that DENY the Apostles Creed as you have done.

BTW, the CIA World Factbook is a simple google search away. Have at it.

What it seems to get down to, whether people verbalize it or not, is that if we try to get even ourselves it indicates that we don’t trust God enough to do what He said when He said, *Vengeance is mine, I will repay*.

We aren’t trusting God to execute actual true justice instead of what WE think justice should be, or what we want justice to be, for the crime committed against us.

You ought to find some better friends.

It is the duty of the Christian to help all of humanity. To heal the sick, to visit the prisoners, to clothe the naked, to house the homeless; and to assist the very dregs of society.

We Christians even extend the hand of fellowship and love to Calvinists. If God made a man, then it is the duty of the Christian to attempt to help that man, no matter how odious, how execrable, how Reformed that man is. Perhaps you are correct in that God put the Reformed here in order to Judge how Christians behave towards them.

I never said they weren’t.

The prohibition is against us who are alive here on earth from contacting someone who has died here on earth.

Prayer is directed towards God.

We are to pray FOR each other, not TO each other.
