Nifonging the Catholic Church
me ^ | April 18, 2010 | vanity

I seriously wonder about some FReepers, sometimes. Any other person accused of a crime would be defended by every FReeper as being innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. I've seen whole threads written by men who have been accused of child abuse by ex-wives out to deny them their visitation rights or to wrest more money out of them. These men are rightly indignant, and furious about the unjust accusations that cannot be proven but are never withdrawn.

Yet where are those FReepers when a PRIEST is accused? Where is the presumption of innocence? Suddenly, every accusation becomes a verdict, and not only the accused but his entire organization and all its adherents are held responsible.

I can only wonder what some of these so-called conservatives (who so faithfully defend the Constitution) would do, if THEY were the ones accused! It is a nightmare for any man -- all of you know how even the accusation stains the man forever, even if it is proven false!

Not only that, many here assert that the problems of 30, 40 and even 50 years ago must be tried in the media TODAY!

Remember the Duke rape case? There are more similarities than differences here. The priests are accused, nifonged, and instead of being defended, they are vilified!

What other man of you could stand under the weight of such an accusation trumpeted by the press, and come out whole? None! And such accusations made, LONG after the statute of limitations has passed, sometimes even after the accused is dead and buried for YEARS -- are YOU one of those who automatically, reflexively, spitefully, and gleefully act as judge, jury, and executioner?

Women! What if it were YOUR HUSBAND, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR FATHER, YOUR UNCLE, YOUR SON who was accused? Wouldn't you want the best defense possible? Wouldn't YOU believe in their innocence? Wouldn't YOU help protect your loved ones as much as possible? And yet, YOU JUDGE THE CHURCH FOR DOING WHAT YOU WOULD DO?

Shame! Vast shame! On all who have sinned against the innocent!

“Most of them couldn’t read.”

But they could understand Latin, hence the Vulgate - a translation so that the “ployboys” {sic} could have the Word read aloud to them daily. And for nearly 1700 years the Church has read aloud, in public, the ENTIRE Word of God, including the parts Luther and the other heresiarchs excised from the Holy Writ.

This is the kind of lie that kills faith and reason and salvation. Repent of it.

2677 comes from Part 4: Christian Prayer: The Tradition of Prayer. No lie, just humility. Which is foreign to the tradition of the Calvinists, who are arrogant without reason, and boastful without achievement. When the Calvinists finally exit the world, who will mourn them? Not the Christians, that's for sure.

And here, I’ll say it because it’s never said to us....Thank you for your post, Dear Sister in Christ.

I consider both of you to be my dear sisters in Christ!

And the section I posted comes from the very part that the Church teaches about the moment of death. Some odd sects have trouble understanding how complete the Universal Church is. It is confusing to them, because it teaches the WHOLE of Scripture not a Bible filled with holes cut by mere men.

If the goal is to better preserve "theological constructs," then the translations should be made directly from the Greek and Hebrew.

Interesting. So what gibberish was the KJV translated from?

Your initial question wasn't which faiths practiced tolerance of other faiths. It was skepticism that our representative form of government with built-in checks and balances was founded on the principles Calvin set down in Geneva which was itself based on Scriptural tenets.

Your premise has been proven to be incorrect....again.

Oh, I remember that from my American History books. Wait! -- no I don't.

2 Peter 2: 1 There were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will introduce destructive heresies and even deny the Master who ransomed them, bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their licentious ways, and because of them the way of truth will be reviled. 3 In their greed they will exploit you with fabrications, but from of old their condemnation has not been idle and their destruction does not sleep.

When the last of the Calvinists are no more, what Christians will mourn them?

Eckleburg stated above that crossing out words and inserting others was against the RF rules!

Learn the rules, Judith.

If one crosses out specific words in a reiteration of someone else's post, only those words may be rewritten to prove some point.

In Mark's case, he rewrote the entire second half of the sentence, but just crossed out two words. Please see his POST 1175

Whereas Metmom crossed out two words and rewrote only those two words.

Get the difference?

How does Christ entrusting the care of His mother to John, the youngest apostle with the least responsibilities, support the notion that men are supposed to give themselves over to Mary at the hour of their death?

You have excoriated Judith Anne regarding Paul; now you sneer at the role of John - the Apostle whom Jesus loved - and who gave us not only the Fourth Gospel (in which the role of Jesus' divinity is most revealed), but also his epistles and the Revelation at the end of the NT. This is what I attribute to assuming the role of YOPIOS. Anything goes, anything can be interpreted any way; nothing needs to conform to Christ, only to the image in the mirror.

Though such ratings are not new information by a long shot.

LOL.

The New Testament of the KJV was translated from the Textus Receptus (Received Text) of the Greek texts and the Old Testament was translated from the Masoretic Hebrew text.

Incredible.

And, how much did the Vatican try to prevent it then, I wonder.

lol. It's not "sneering" to read the words of the Bible correctly and to understand them.

Mary is not the Queen of Heaven, nor the Mother of God, nor will she meet anyone at the hour of their death to take them to Jesus, nor should anyone entrust the hour of their death to her.

Not if they want to reside in Paradise with the Triune God.

“They say memory is one of the first things to go.”

Have you forgotten my question? Or do you not have the simple common courtesy to answer it?

“So what odd sect is it that you belong to sister?”
