Ok, so I have been waking up in a cold sweat the last several months VERY concerned about this country. In the past when I have had problems and concerns I find it encouraging to share and pray with others. This is what I propose... a 14 day prayer. We all agree to pray for this country every morning for 14 straight days starting tomorrow AM. Do this before getting out of bed or speaking to anyone. Who's in?

Advocating liberal pro-death positions is another. Mocking other’s religious beliefs is another. Telling the mods to go to hell is another.
Well, first of all, to preface this, since we're getting going on this discussion..., I'll make it clear that I dont follow verity and I don't have any discussions with him (at least not that I can remember right now).
But, I've seen an item or two, in scanning back a few posts (of his) that I would disagree with and disagree with strongly.
Having said that, heck... I mock "false religions" all the time. I can think of Islam, which is an evil and false religion. And I mock them, I can expect that they will mock me, too. And likewise, I expect others who disagree with Christianity will mock me -- and they do -- right here on Free Republic, in how I carry through with what the Bible says (the Bible being the very basis for Christianity and the "authority" behind Christianity).
And saying that about the Bible, how many times do I get mocked here, because I accept the world-wide flood that the Bible says happened -- that's the same Bible that tells me about Jesus and Salvation, doncha know.
Also, how many times do I get mocked when I point out that the Bible says, very clearly, that the entire universe and the world that we live in and human beings -- were all created in the span of 6 days.
Accompanying that, how many times do I get mocked here on Free Republic, when I point out that the theory of Evolution is totally false and totally incompatible with Christianity and the Bible and what it says.
Noting one more thing that I get mocked about, too... is the establishment of a 1,000 year kingdom on this earth, with Jesus, the Messiah of Israel ruling over all the nations, with Israel being the ruling nation over all the other nations of the world, including the United States. There are a lot of people who go crazy over that one... :-)
So, I'm quite used to being mocked for what the Bible clearly says and the Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God in all that it says, speaks on and talks about and teaches on.
Therefore, I should say, "What's new on Free Republic?" -- because that kind of mocking is definitely not something new or prohibited here... :-)

I think that those who wake up on the wrong side of the bed and go looking for trouble should stay off of a religious thread that is discussing prayer. It’s rude, doltish behavior and his GTH comment should be stricken.
I don't think his comment should be stricken and that the Religion Moderator did what was appropriate, and that's fine with me.
But, getting on with the "prayer" thread... I would advise people to use the tools that are provided by the Religion Moderator, if they are concerned about these types of things.

Types of threads and guidelines pertaining to the Religion Forum:
Prayer threads are closed to debate of any kind.
Devotional threads are closed to debate of any kind.
Caucus threads are closed to any poster who is not a member of the caucus.
For instance, if it says “Catholic Caucus” and you are not Catholic, do not post to the thread. However, if the poster of the caucus invites you, I will not boot you from the thread.
The “caucus” article and posts must not compare beliefs or speak in behalf of a belief outside the caucus.
If a person is concerned about it remaining a "Prayer thread" then just designate it a prayer thread and that will do it. That's why this was provided for us on Free Republic.
I'm on a Prayer thread and I'm also on a Caucus thread... so I know that they work and work just like they are intended.
That said, I do try to leave poster's discussion of RF guidelines (or objections) in place so I will not remove this sidebar.
Nevertheless, enough is enough. Return to the issue of the article itself, prayer, and do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers.

Suggestion for you on this prayer thread... put a post at the bottom of this thread, pointing to a new thread... one that you make (make that thread first through...).
Then label that new thread something like...
“Pray for America for 14 days, March 17th [PRAYER]”
And then for 14 days running, you kick off a new thread, change the date (the title being the same as above) and do so for those 14 days.
That way, you’ll get what you’re asking for and in a very organized fashion ... :-)
Don't often have sleep problems or nightmares, last week I woke up in a cold sweat after dreaming Obama was evil (I know he is) in my dream he had the ability to bring his evil into my house, and his evil was in the bedroom with me. I had to turn the light on and read for over an hour before I calmed down enough to sleep again. Dream stayed with me the next day, told several people about it. It seemed silly in the light of day but ominous in the dark of night.

Like I pointed out earlier, anyone can check up on the progress of this thread any time they want and point others to it as well.
Maybe a weekly update would be good.
Well... that’s totally up to the poster of the thread and what they think... as long as it’s organized and understandable... I gave an example of one Prayer thread up above and anyone can take a look at how it’s organized....
Using an appropriate and unique “keyword” will make all the threads accessible easily on one webpage, too.
No problem. I learned the hard way, through trial and error, that it doesn’t work.
RM - you removed all the other offending posts from verity except for this one (#36). That leaves a rather one sided view of what happened. You should remove this one too... otherwise you’ll be making this thread no different from any other MSM article we can read about which conveniently covers one side.
This thread has devolved into what many become on FR these days. Hi-jacked by rude behavior and those who defend the hi-jacker. I guess it was not obvious enough to anyone reading the lead in to this thread that the topic was prayer for this country. Perhaps those who are rather thick-headed need a prayer alert designation to make it clear.
No the Religion Moderator, by letting stand a rude unnecessary comment has encouraged more of the same.

In this case, a fresh start is a good idea.
I’m chiming in late, but I did pray this morning. I feel very comforted and peaceful today. Thanks for getting us all motivated to work together in prayer!
