One of the big differences is we do not claim a "special relationship" with God for our Pastors .We do not see them as standing in for Christ or a part of the apostolic line.

We know our Pastors are sinners just like us and they do not have "special" access to the throne of God.They, like the people they pastor, are sinners in need of a Savior..

Is there sexual abuse in Protestant churches?? I would expect to see the same sin in the church we see outside. The difference is that we out it..we do not spend millions of donated dollars to hide it and cover it up and keep allowing access to kids for our names sake..

The shame of Catholicism starts at the top and drips down.. The Vatican has been aware of this issue and worked to cover it up..without thought for the well being of all those altar boys that they converted to future predators or homosexual men

If Michael S. Rose's book is any indication -- and, please note, we've not seen ONE post contradicting the book's claims on this thread -- then the problem is more than just top-down. It's at all levels. To quote George Meredith, "We are betrayed by what is false within."
